If you're looking for a truly warming and satisfying bowl of ramen in Kamloops, then Wakayama Ramen Bar is definitely worth checking out. The store is small but the atmosphere is cozy and warm, with a minimalist, Japanese-inspired décor that makes you feel comfortable and cozy as soon as you walk in.

The menu is varied and ramen is the mainstay, with classic flavors such as soy sauce, miso, and curry, with all kinds of toppings to perfectly satisfy guests with different tastes. I ordered their Spicy Rad ramen, the broth was rich but not greasy, the flavor of the pork bone was very pure, the details were well handled, and once you drink it, you know it was boiled with care. The noodles were soft and slightly chewy, fully absorbing the essence of the soup. The Chashu was also one of the highlights, fat and lean, stewed to perfection and melted in your mouth. I also tried their deep-fried dumplings and chicken karaage , which were crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside, making them a great side dish to go with.

Service-wise, the staff was very friendly and quick to order and serve. We were there during meal time and there were a lot of customers, but the whole dining experience was still smooth, we didn't have to wait too long, and the staff would come over from time to time to refill water or care about whether the flavors were right, so the service was satisfactory.

The price is medium to high, but considering the quality of the ingredients and the overall experience, it is good value for money. Especially in a mid-sized city like Kamloops, it's really rare to find such an authentic, consistent, and high-caliber Japanese ramen store.

Overall, whether you're looking for a hot bowl of ramen on a cold winter day or a refreshing bowl of cold noodles in the summer Wakayama Ramen Bar is an option that won't disappoint. Highly...

Really great ramen place if you have a bit of extra money and want to hace an outing for yourself or with friends. While more expensive than somewhere like Ramen Time, the money does get you a little extra. However, the value compared to other ramen places I've been to is why I have to give it a 4 stars. However, do not get me wrong it is still very good value.

For my meal, I went with friends and ate edamame and gyoza/dumplings for appies and found them really good. The edamame was a little saltly for my liking but everyone is different and was 100% delicious, and the gyoza was hot and great. For my main, I got the miso ramen without the green onions and with a hard boiled egg substitution. I foubd the actual ramen, miso broth and pork really delicious, but the hard boiled egg was not as boiled as I like it and the yolk was still a little too yolky for me. Otherwise would 100% get again just with soft boiled with the yolk mixed in.

TL;DR Really good if you have the extra money. Nice enough atmosphere but slightly out of the way location, though, it does have free parking....

We (three) came to a grand opening today at noon, and the place seemed oddly modernized for a ramen bar with that kind of a name. It reminded me of cooking a pack of Mr Noodles in a college dorm room. We had the choice to try their spicy ramen for $5, and it was just o-k. At first glance there was probably too much oil sitting on the top, and messy plating. We then all noticed that the meat they had in the bowls were consistently cold and chewy, the noodles were alright, and the broth tasted like a mixture of water, some broth powder, and a ton of spices, despite not being very spicy. I concluded that it would be a good place to eat at if their bowls of ramen stayed at the $5 price rather than $9, especially compared to what else we’ve tried.

We are very big fans of another famous ramen place already settled in Kamloops, Tiger Ramen. Their $10 bowls of high quality ramen, and humbling atmosphere unquestionably blows away all competition, and blows your mind, and only for one dollar more than...

I was halfway through my ramen when I noticed something strange in the bowl, a long, dark, stringy object that looked like a piece of wool or thread. It was tangled in the broth and completely out of place in any kind of food. The texture and appearance were unsettling, and I immediately lost my appetite. Up until that point, I had been enjoying the meal, but finding something like that mid-bite was not only disgusting, it raised serious concerns about the cleanliness and food safety standards of the kitchen. To make matters worse, when I contacted the restaurant, the owner offered me just 30% off my next order — not even a full refund for the contaminated meal I couldn’t finish. That response felt dismissive and completely inadequate for the situation. I won’t be ordering from this place again, and I strongly urge others to think twice. This kind of contamination and lack of accountability is unacceptable.

This is my favorite ramen in Kamloops and is easily on par with the ramen bars in Vancouver. The broth is rich and delicious, the pork is thick cut, and they offer more authentic toppings like kikurage and marinated bamboo shoots! The staff is incredibly nice and stick with me through all the modifications and added toppings. They're beginning to remember my order and my friend and I chat and get to know the staff. I just love it here. If you haven't already tried Wakayama, you've got to!!
