We had a very disappointing service experience on a quiet Sunday evening over Labour Day weekend. Not sure if the kitchen or serving team was understaffed, but we waited over an hour for our fish and chip dinners that never arrived so we paid and left. Below is our experience including possible contributing factors. We sat ourselves, were greeted and given menus. The server was pleasant and brought waters. We ordered our drinks and meals at the same time. It took over 15 minutes for two drinks. During this wait time, we piled the last guests’ dirty plates ourselves and the server took them. Another server wiped down other tables just not ours. I noticed our server asked another server something and gestured at our table—- not sure what- perhaps they were changing their table assignment? At no point during our one hour visit did someone ask if we wanted another round of drinks. Other tables were checked on, just not ours. The worst part for us: We watched three other groups who arrived after us receive their meals. Twelve other guests got served instead of us. The large group of six people seated next to us were checked on many times…likely locals who are regulars. Feeling neglected and non-existent, we went inside and paid for our drinks so we could leave. This place needs some help- the servers looked stressed- but it wasn’t busy. This is a prime tourist location and I understand that locals will come back regularly but everyone deserves a nice, timely experience. Please teach your staff to be customer aware.

Locally-brewed blueberry ale and walleye dinner were off the charts good. Wild rice casserole is my favorite thing about Kenora and this resto embraces the dish. Will be back to explore breakfast too (breakfast sandwich on bannock!) great food and service and my complaint about the atmosphere is mostly that despite being on the Harbourfront you can’t see and enjoy the lake because the city long ago decided waterfront is for parking lots (so … not the restaurants fault but a classic example of bad civic planning)

I ordered a special - toasted Brie with blueberry and apples. It sounds like it should be an excellent combination. The cheese was cold, the apple was bland and sliced in a way that made it difficult to eat. Whatever oil was used for frying left the sandwich and fries with an off putting, sweet aftertaste. I could only force down half the sandwich and a few of the fries. Looked good, did not meet my expectations. Maybe the regular dishes are better.

Iwe chose this restaurant based on easy access and hours open. It was our last meal before returning home. I ordered eggs Benedict. They looked good on others plate. I asked the server to please make them soft poached as I preferred them runny. Our old beverages were brought out quickly, not with the meal. The actual meal was about 15 min wait. By now, my milk was warm and I had to get some ice to make it cool again. The home cut hash browns were golden brown and quite good. Where they lost me was when I got my meal, the eggs were solid, no yolk. The plate had an overwhelming vinegar smell. I thought maybe they had a bit too much vinegar in the patching water. It seems they used vinegar in the hollandaise sauce also as this was the source of the smell and taste. I summoned the nice server over and pointed out my concerns and she assured me she asked for soft poached. She said she could get it replaced but we were already anxious to got. The wait fir the first meal was long. I didn't want to wait more and said I will eat it as is but no happy. When she brought the bill, she said she covered my milk cost in exchange for my warm milk and hard eggs. Be aware of the wait when you go and clear on what you actually want and hope to get. Food prices are high enough now. My...

Super unfortunate visit this evening. I came in with some friends and ordered myself something pretty simple. Just chicken tenders and a poutine. The food came back quite cold, and the tenders were just incredibly overcooked. Just totally like rubber. The fries were also over cooked or stale. The waitress never came and followed up on how the food was until the very end of the meal, so I never had a chance to express the issue. When I did inform her, I was also shocked that there was absolutely no form of compensation whatsoever. She had expressed that a lot of people like these types of food “crispy”, and my reply that this was not crispy, it was just very overcooked. The waitress was friendly, and I do not hold it against her. Super sweet girl. I had also picked at my friends bruschetta, and the nachos. I wish I could give better reviews as I love to support local and try out newer restaurants. I wish there was something to rave about here, but unfortunately not the...
