A&W Canada — Restaurant in Kitchener

A&W is one of my favourite fast food chains, which is why this location is getting more than one star. If you decide to go here, DO NOT use the drive-through.

On my latest visit, we drove up to the speaker and were greeted with a mumbled "canitakeyerorder", which quickly cut off into silence. We actually weren't sure if the person on the other end could hear us. We made our order, quite clearly (a double Teen combo with onion rings, a Mama combo with extra lettuce, a float and an apple pie). Upon driving up to the front, I realized that I hadn't specified that instead of root beer, I wanted a diet coke. When I said this to the gentleman at the window, whose name was Ken according to the receipt and who was the manager according to his tie, he informed us that we had not said "combo". Which we had. When we asked if we could just pay for the extra drink and fries, Ken mumbled something incomprehensible and closed the window in our faces, leaving us utterly confused.

To their credit, they did provide us with the allegedly "unordered" items free of charge, though I suspect they did so just to get our car out of the way, plus they forgot our apple pie so it cancels out. In any case, Manager Ken was so dull and unresponsive that I genuinely believe he was on some sort of sedative. At no point did he clarify our order through the speaker, barely saying anything in response to us. We had to ask if he could hear us multiple times, because it felt like we were just talking at an inoperative...

This location is closest to my house however thankfully they put a new location a few mins up the road on Ottawa st. I don't know what's happened with this location but I do not enjoy going there anymore haven't for a while now. Food is cold even after being parked waiting for "fresh food" to be made. They never seem to be able to inform you if they're "out" of something like for example chipotle mayo and seem to think that jalapeno ranch is an acceptable replacement (without informing you or asking you what you would like instead they will just put the other sauce in your bag) I enjoy the chipotle wraps with the sweet potato fries and every.single.time they put hardly a dimes worth of sauce on your wrap and always seem to be"out" for the fries that are supposed to come with it. I wouldn't be so upset about it with if the people working there were actually nice and respectful to the customers that go there. This isn't a one time thing otherwise I wouldn't be writing this review as I understand people have their off days but this has happened more times than not going there. Save yourself a headache and just go to the one on Ottawa street at Strausburg. They are amazing there. Food is always hot and fresh and the customer...

Every time I eat here it’s a time consuming, personal experience disaster.

I seriously want to know what kind of Training this staff gets in Customer Service.

They are painfully slow. I have half an hour for lunch and I will spend my entire break either in the drive thru or god help me inside.

I only go there because of the coupons (and the double teen burgers) and more then half the time the counter staff doesn’t know how to take them or has to ask a “Manager” to ring them In. It’s time consuming and makes for an even longer wait.

I am a Woman. I have a slightly deeper voice then average. This apparently makes it okay to be called “Sir” several times during my visit okay. It’s NOT okay.

When I was there on Tuesday of this week, I corrected the (Male) employee who then stood there gawking at me, blinked several times and proceeded to a stare at my chest for a good minute and then shut the window.

I’m tired of the slow, misgendered service I get from this restaurant. I will be taking my business to the Ottawa St location from now on.

I get working at a burger joint sucks. I get the hours are long and the pay must be dismal but this is no excuse to take it out on...
