Hakka Aroma, Kitchener – A Second Chance Well Deserved
As a food critic, I believe in fairness—one bad experience shouldn’t write the whole story, especially in the dynamic world of hospitality. So, I returned to Hakka Aroma a week after a disappointing first encounter, open to giving them a second chance. And I’m glad I did.
This time, I was welcomed by the restaurant owner—a humble, down-to-earth Nepali gentleman whose warmth and professionalism were a complete contrast to my previous visit. He took time to understand my Bombay palate, shared his background in Hakka cuisine, and offered thoughtful recommendations that truly reflected his experience in the kitchen. This is exactly the kind of leadership every food outlet needs.
I tried their Chicken & Egg Fried Noodles along with the Tandoori Momos. As someone trying this momo style for the first time, I’ll admit it didn’t quite hit the emotional high my friend described—a fair 3.5/5 for me. But the noodles? Outstanding. Rich, smoky, perfectly spiced, and packed with depth—a true showcase of their culinary strength. Without hesitation, I’d say Hakka is not just a word on their board—it’s their craft.
It’s important to note: this visit wasn’t sponsored, nor requested. It was my own decision to reassess, and so is this review. I’m genuinely happy to see that Hakka Aroma not only acknowledged their earlier misstep but took corrective steps to win back trust. Mistakes can happen—what matters is how you recover, and today, they did it with grace.
Final verdict: One of the most authentic Hakka outlets in Kitchener—and a team that’s learning, evolving, and delivering. Respect where it’s due. See you...

I ordered from Hakka Aroma via Uber Eats on my birthday, but unfortunately, the order went to my previous address by mistake. I realized the error instantly and I cancelled the order within one minute, then reordered the exact same items to my correct address.
To my surprise, I was charged for both the cancelled order, which is 90$ and the new one, a total of $90. Despite cancelling immediately, I received no refund. I contacted the restaurant twice by phone, but both times, they refused to let me speak to the manager. I also sent them an email, but never received any response. This is the most unprofessional experience I've had with a restaurant.
I expected better communication and basic customer service. Instead, I was ignored and charged unfairly. I won’t be ordering from Hakka Aroma again, and I hope others think twice before doing so.
Thank you for acknowledging my concern. However, an apology alone doesn’t resolve the financial loss I experienced. I cancelled the order within a minute and placed the same order to the correct address, yet I was charged for both – totaling around $90. I reached out multiple times via phone and email with no resolution or communication.
Given the circumstances and the immediate cancellation, I am requesting a full refund for the cancelled order. This is a fair and reasonable expectation, and I hope you will take swift action to correct this. Please let me know how and when the refund will...
Read moreOur recent meal at Hakka Aroma was packed with flavorful Hakka dishes and accommodating service. Here’s a breakdown of our order and experience:
We started with the Chicken Lollipop, which typically comes with a sweet sauce. Upon mentioning our preference for less sweetness, the staff graciously served it without sauce and recommended dipping it in our Hot and Sour Soup. This twist added a spicy depth and was a satisfying start.
We also had the Hot and Sour Soup, which was perfectly balanced between heat and tang. For the kids, the fries were a simple yet satisfying option.
The highlight of our meal was the Chilli Chicken Gravy, served with plain rice. This rich, spicy dish was flavorful, and paired with Garlic Naan—a favorite of my son’s—it was a fantastic combination. The naan was soft, fresh, and had just the right amount of garlic.
Additionally, we ordered the Dry Chilli Fish Fry, which was a bit salty but still enjoyable with its crispy texture and flavorful spices.
For vegetarians, Hakka Aroma offers options like Veg Manchurian and Veg Noodles in both appetizer and main course portions, while meat-lovers can opt for the non-vegetarian versions of these dishes. The variety is appreciated for mixed dietary preferences.
The only drawback was the cleanliness in the washroom, where the sink was nearly blocked. Attention to these details would enhance the dining experience. Otherwise, the flavorful dishes and customizable options made for a...
