Algarve Restaurant — Restaurant in Kitchener

It was an interesting dining experience. We asked for a booster seat for my two year old and was told sorry we only have one and it's being used. Ok we can live with that daughter can sit in a normal chair.

Then we were brought out only three menus for a party of four because they only had 5 menus another table already had a couple of menus at their table..what? So what do they do when there's also a bigger party? Take one menu and pass it around? Odd. Ok we can share menus.

We order mussels as an appetizer which I must say we're very very good. Even my wife that's not a mussel fan enjoyed them. We got our food order in and waitress brought the food over. We had asked from two medium well steaks which were a bit under but not enough to send them back, it looked like they had been cooked for the right amount of time on one side but not the other.

However the worst part came to my mother-in-laws salmon which was raw in the middle. Her veggies and fries were also cold. When we brought it to the attention of the server seem to expect that it would be under cooked based on her reaction. She took it away and they fired up a new salmon which came back probably a bit over done.

At no point however did anyone apologize to us for the mistake. (I've been to a place where our table got a free round of drinks just because I asked for a new fork because one of the forks at the table was not washed properly). We weren't asking for anything for free or anything like that but at least an acknowledgement that they made a mistake would have been nice.

Not sure if I would go back again and give it...

July 4th 2023, after leaving Toronto to go back home with my daughter, we stopped here and we’re glad we did. My daughter being born Canadian loves our culture food and ordered the Grilled Cod, I had the Grilled Squid (Lulas). She was on cloud 9 and fell in Love, she says it was delicious and not even too salty as others claim. There’s nothing more enjoyable than seeing your daughter loving the food from your homeland. I most definitely will be coming back and drive the 1.5 hrs here. Be Proud Algarve Restaurant, home is closer than we think. Will definitely recommend this little gem.

As my first time in the restaurant and drove all the way from Toronto to meet my son kind of half way as he lives in Aylmer and was his birthday. He had carne Alentejana I had the cod fish with fries and onions absolutely nothing to do with Portuguese food nasty Cod fish dish as I was surprised being they suppose to be Portuguese. My son said his was ok if I had to rate my meal I probably not give them any stars. Service was ok price was not ok because food was not good if was good I would pay no issues and no complains but this is far from Portuguese cod fish... Bit disappointed as I said I drove all the way from Toronto. I forsure will not return. Waiter was sweet...
