I have to admit that we picked the worst possible time to go to Eggsmart: 10:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Of course the place was full and we were informed that the wait for a table would be around 30 minutes. But we were near the head of the line, had a $5-off coupon that we’d received in the mail, and weren’t in any particular hurry, so we elected to stay and wait. However, we weren’t too happy when we saw a couple of tables become available and get cleaned and ready for use, and were told we’d have to wait another 10 minutes in the entryway “until the kitchen caught up”! Seriously?!! In our opinion, the smart thing to do would have been to seat people at tables as soon as possible and get a cup of coffee in front of them! We would have been much happier there than standing an extra 10 minutes in a cold & drafty entryway “waiting for the kitchen to catch up”!
Once we were finally seated and had opened the menu, the beautiful picture of the Keto Breakfast Plate immediately caught my eye. I’m not on a keto diet, but I was looking for something different since I can get great bacon & eggs at home and didn’t just want to fill up on cheap carbs in the form of toast & homefries. This plate featured 2 eggs any style, 3 slices of double-smoked bacon, and 2 avocado halves topped with pico de gallo & crumbled feta cheese, all on a bed of fresh baby spinach, and served with little bowls of walnuts and fruit (strawberries & blueberries). I know not everyone likes avocado, but I do, so when the server came to take our order, I simply pointed to the picture and said that I wanted the exact same plate. My wife opted for the more traditional breakfast plate of 3 eggs over-easy with 4 sausages, toast, homefries, and a small bowl of fresh fruit.
We probably waited another 20 minutes for our food, but our friendly server had gotten us some coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice (which, at $5.29, wasn’t cheap, but was certainly delicious!), so we were content to sit and talk and watch the world go by.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals! You’ll notice in the photos that I traded one of my slices of bacon for one of my wife’s sausages :) My only complaint was that my scrambled eggs were barely warm by the time I got my plate (like it had been sitting on the counter too long rather than being brought immediately to the table while they were still hot) and seemed a little overdone and rubbery instead of fluffy. I think next time I’ll order my eggs over-easy instead. And I would have loved a drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkling of salt & pepper, and a few drops of lemon juice on the spinach leaves to make them tastier, but that would probably go against keto diet rules, so that's okay :)
In summary, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this Eggsmart to anyone looking for a good breakfast in the area. Good food, good portions, friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. We plan to come back but at a day & time when they’re...
Read moreWas excited to try this place despite some of the reviews. Arrived at 11:30 am on Sunday. Expected a wait but did not expect the oddity that unfolded. We were told to leave our name and that the wait would be 45 minutes or longer. No, problem, it's a busy time to go eat brunch. However, upon looking around there were only 4 occupied tables and several empty tables that had not been cleaned up yet from previous diners. Ok, no problem, they may have had a rush they were still cleaning up from. Then we noticed the outside patio only had 1 table occupied and again, several empty tables that needed to be cleaned up. Weird. But whatever we are willing to wait. Several potential diners arrived but decided to leave based on the wait. Meanwhile there seemed to be a focus for 45 minutes by the 3 or 4 wait staff on take out orders solely. At one point the people who were occupying the one table on the patio asked if they had been forgotten about. As this is happening more and more people are arriving wanting to get a table. Several people left their names but some ended up just leaving after witnessing such a strange lull in seating people. After about 40 minutes of waiting I went back inside and asked where they were at with seating people. I was assured it would be the next few minutes. Sure enough the wait staff finally began clearing and cleaning tables. Meanwhile outside there were a lot of frustrated people who just left. I will say that the menu has a delightful variety of breakfast fare. However, when it says "served with a side of seasonal fruit" you receive one of those tiny ketchup/dip cups with 3 blueberries and 4 slices of strawberry. At least that is what everyone at my table got. This place has potential but, I hate to say this, there is definitely a tremendous lack of management. One server could have been in charge of sorting and organizing online orders leaving the other 2 or 3 staff to attend to clearing tables, attending seated customers and seating new people, thus monopolizing on business potential. Good customer service has nothing to do with the size of your kitchen (and honestly it was a normal size kitchen for the size of breakfast...
Read more3rd visit: We were hoping the patio would be opened already but one server said they only had 3 servers and could not open the patio because it was too much. I am thinking they are still understaffed then. Service was fast as it was not crazy busy for a Saturday morning. We ordered French Bennie and added smoked salmon and I had the Lox that comes w smoked salmon and avocado spread. This was not good at all, the avocado spread made the toast soo mushy and soggy that it was inedible. I don't know what they mixed the avocado with that turned the bread inedible. The French bennie was ok. The fries that come with it not so much. Coffee was good as usual. Of course we are coming back but we will refrain from ordering anything with avocado. 2dn review and update. Fantastic food and service. Thank you Joanne for making a difference. The food was sooooo tasty!!! It even smelled like home cooked food. The coffee was also very good, strong and hot!!
Our first time here. The service was extremely slow. We had to call someone just to get us coffee. The food took forever to be served but it was so worth it. My husband's order came wrong and in other circumstances, he would have just eaten it but he was looking forward to his French Bennie. It was replaced right away with the right one. We felt like the place is understaffed in general. The food was really really good, good portions as well. The coffee was great!!!We really did not mind the wait since we did not have any plans after. Our server was nice and friendly and suggested the French fries instead of home fries. Best fries ever!!! We are definetely coming back. There are so many things in the menu we want to try!!! Just a reminder to all who read this. Be patient and be kind. These have been hard times for all. We are all...
