Some of the best Asian restaurants are quiet unassuming places. Tucked into the back of the plaza at a busy intersection, this restaurant fits the bill.
Upon first glance on walking in you would not expect much with the dated decor (and very worn booths) but this quickly melts away as you are greeted by one of the most upbeat and charming people I have ever met.
Service is quick. Drink orders are taken almost immediately. You are not pressured to order quickly and questions are promptly answered and recommendations are ample.
I make it a rule to always order pad thai and crispy spring rolls on my first visit to a viet/thai restaurant. Call it my own personal litmus test. I was not disappointed here. Portion size was ample (and let me say that the leftovers I ate cold later that night blew me away). Shrimp and tofu were perfectly balanced and the hidden bits of peanut were delightful.
My friend ordered the garlic broccoli stir fry with a side of sticky rice and was equally pleased.
The owner/server is an absolute gem. We talked for a couple minutes and she hugged us after we complimented her on the food. She made a point to ask and learn our names.
This will be turning into one of my go-to spots. If not for the food then for the...
Read moreAwful, awful awful, and terrible experience!!! I'm a student moving to the kitchener area and went to this my first restaurant in area with 3 other friends. (important to note all from different ethnicities, mentioning this as I can't actualize any other reason for the service that was given by the server, or unless because we were four guys and I have pink hair).
walked into the restaurant and greeted the server and inquired about a table for 4. Server rudely seated us and was just really impolite. Nonetheless we were friendly and ordered, I asked for hot water with lemon, and inquired if I could have a few, server advised he puts 1 slice in and if I needed more he would have to charge me per slice (he advised would have to get price, he never did get back to us) I accidentally asked for club soda, mistaking it for cream soda, advised waiter that I apologise but could not do club soda. Waiter advised he will have to charge me for it anyways. At this point we collectively decided to leave. Waiter then asked us to pay for the drinks that he had served (despite we had not touched them). I politely inquired as to why we would do that. And he rudely bid us goodbye... I would never return and encourage others...
Read moreWe were looking for an authentic thai/viet cuisine last night and ended up visiting Reg Ginger based on of the reviews.
Other than the Stellar customer service (the owner took out time to talk to us, know us and recommend dishes accordingly), the food was as authentic as it gets.
Started off with the Crispy Chicken spring rolls which were really flavourful and crispy. Ordered the Curry Pad Thai and Bami Goreng because of the recommendations.
Curry Pad thai was amazing, it was fresh, tasted like it was cooked in the streets of Thailand. Came with Chicken, shrimp, Tofu amongst other things and was doused in Thai curry sauce. This was probalby the most delicious thing on the menu and definitely a much needed break from regular joints like Thai Express.
Bami Goreng was out of this world. I've tried to find a decent around the kitchen area and always end up with noodles thrown together with a bunch of vegetables. This Bami was the complete opposite. It was well put together, the perfect amount of spice and seasoning came together to punch you in the face with flavour. I'll probably grabbing this on my lunch more often.
Anyways, great food, great customer service. Will definitely...
