A typical Sobeys location that is a sized location considering it used to be a Dutch Boy location that had a same sized basement spanning the same sales floor but just in basement. Sobeys has decided that the basement will not even be known to the public due to them reinforcing the floor by covering it!
Has self service POS terminals 4 in total. 2 lanes for 8 items and 16 or less item line. Rest are regular lanes. A very well thought out process was made by Sobeys to make it easier for the customers to shop at.
All staff are nice and friendly. I don't know her, not friend or family either. But i have to say this must be said about my last visit to the Highland location...
Staff member "Keeley" is very exceptional. With her speed of service plus her 'style & grace' grants her the highest grades possible! Not fast rushing to get rid of you to do next & so on... NO, not like that type she's fast plus efficient & effective at the P.O.S. terminals. She answered questions because she wants to knows! The same goes with flyer regards (her store & companys) A friendly attitude as normal short chit chat bout rising food prices & as the scan of my items finalized, I paid. Her real not a fake approach to the job & with customer interaction it is a real genuine smile she had gave me.
Knowing that my shopping in a busy store with long lines and a 'ad' items availability shortage, she knew that her part was just as important as the suppliers!! She & others out there who take thier job positions seriously are THE REASON why I will return to this location again! It made me actually wonder why the 4 self serve terminals that a majority of people hate or get flustered with, I ask myself is this really the right kinda direction for a grocery store to take? Is this so much better for us all as a new replacement than a human? It has a few advantages yes but I am writing a long review not of technology's new gadget rather more like a customer pointing a fact that interaction with staff associate was a 💯 times better on so many levels!
It was a point for me to say to Sobeys management this factor to weight in at...That the staff member you hired and trained is the reason that I will return to shop again! It shows me that "Keeley" cares plus others like her too are definitely why I will return. Face to face P.O.S. is so much more than scanning items then asking the payment type. Some people say that Keelee's job is remedial & meaningless? I say that type of job is so more meaningful than a position as a store greeter! Way more I'd say importantly than just only a 'gas only type' station worker.
Just my feedback on my last visit to Highland Rd Sobeys plus staff evaluation. Rating 8.75 of 10. The store is exceptionally clean even during...
Read moreSushi selection is horrible. Salads are over priced low quality. Sandwiches look like they are literally thrown together. Bought a Tropicana orange juice that was 4 days past expiry date.only thing good about this store was the friendly good looking cashiers! Other then that its a dive. Just went back 3 weeks after this review and bought a tropical salad.... mango was hard as a rock. Watermelon was soft and about to rot. Kiwi was sour and I couldn't even chew the middle.thr pineapple peices where mostly pineapple core....and the Ceasars Salad was horrible. The bacon was very low quality and èxtemely fatty and chewy. Cashiers were nice. Store is a dive. Went back today bought a taco dip.. who ever works in produce is very lazy and slack and needs to take some pride in here work! The onion was cut up into 1/2 inch size peices but they didn't cut all the way through so most of the onions are 2inches long peices of green onion in a taco dip... if they let visual Presentation slide this much I can only imagine what happens behind closed doors! Plus they seem to take expired item off the shelf at around noon everyday. You think that's something would do not at your...

I came in to purchase two $500 Airbnb gift cards and a $200 Home Hardware card for a trip with my wife and renovations — and I was treated like a criminal. A staff member flagged my purchase as a scam without any legitimate reason, and refused to process it until a manager got involved.
The worst part? Once the manager reviewed it, the transaction went through — meaning there was no system issue, and I was wrongfully profiled probably based on how I looked (I was working and on route to Swanson's Home Hardware and wearing work clothes). Other people were in line... I was shaking from how humiliating the experience was.
This hit harder because my family has a long connection to the Sobeys name — my grandfather is literally on the mural in a Nova Scotia Sobeys. The treatment I received was unprofessional, uninformed, and unfair.
I hope Sobeys takes a serious look at how its staff are trained to treat people — and how harmful assumptions and poor communication can damage...
