I've been in Kitimat for over 4 years now but have never been to the Chalet before. Outside of the occasional A&W meal or Subway, most of my meals are in camp. One of our group from work was leaving and a going away dinner was organized for us here. There was roughly a dozen of us so good sized group for sure. The Chalet is a cozy little resturajnt, they had us in a side room which was nice. The place is clean and nice, not modern but it has an esthetic it's going for and it achieves it. The server we had was very nice. She did a great job. I ordered Halibut fish and chips and they were very good, good batter and nice fish. The chips were nice too, not too thin to be fries just not quite what I'd qualify as chips proper. They did a great job of getting everyone their food around the same time. My friend across from me had a chicken burger and it looked really good, super thick and he said it tasted great. The schnitzel also looked amazing, I was leaning towards getting that myself but I do like fish and chips. The only negative I can say is with their desert. My friend across from me ordered it and he said the cookies tasted like the desert had been made in advance and been sitting in the fridge. So the oreos lost their crispness? Like they were soggy. So that's a shame as they shouldn't pre make a desert that will lose ots quality like that. Other than that, great dinner.

Best restaurants in Kitimat hands down. Menu offers a lot of unique dishes you don't see much on menus. The dining area split into two sections. On the left is table cloth and more casual upscale settings. On the right has a pub like atmosphere. I went with the left side. I ordered the chef special soup $7 and Salisbury steak with prawns $24 (no photos, too hungry lol) and carrot cake $9 (no photos, too hungry again lol). The soup was hardy and flavor was good. Tomato based, noodles, chicken and vegetables. It was a bit warm than hot when servered. Still enjoyed it overall. Salisbury steak with prawns was very good. It was nicely executed and made from scratch. The carrot cake was probably the highlight. The best carrot cake I ever had. You can tell it was made from scratch and executed well. Service was very good too. The server was nice, friendly and attentive. The menu had so many good choices that I was struggling to choose! I wish that I tried it earlier in my visit than on the last day here. I would definitely gone again. I would highly recommend it as the best restaurant in town.

Our group of six arrived right at the Sunday lunch run. The manager met us outside and said how sorry she was that we'd have to wait a while since they were short staffed. It was a nice day so we chatted outside until they had a table for us. Kira was our waitress and was extremely helpful and friendly. We had drinks before us in no time and our orders were given. Despite a tricky order, she got it all correct. I had the Cod Fish & Chips which was great. The BBQ Wings and California Stir Fry also got rave reviews from the group. Times are tough and wait staff is in high demand, but they performed admirably. I like the rugged ambiance of the place. I'm happy to be back again.
