Food was ok to be honest. But would have given zero star for Service! Steak was good - not awesome but given here at La Malbaie, there aren’t many choices and most steaks are made by pubs/bars, this is a real steakhouse. However, I really disliked how the waitress behaved when we paid our bill. She made a mistake on our bill by overcharging $16. And she might have thought that we would have “underpay” her for tips for that mistake - so when I was getting the machine to put in tips she took it and put in the tips by herself and said “this would be the same”. It wasn’t an exaggerated amount and I was fine with it but just the way she did it was surely NOT KIND! And if I interpreted it beyond it I could have said it’s discrimination as I’m an Asian and she thought I don’t pay fair tips???!! She surely made an obvious mistake on the bill to begin with. Anyway it’s fine but given we are staying for a whole week and was planning to go back right away tomorrow as my daughter likes the rib-eye! But in this case, surely I WON’T - rather just have our food at the Fairmont where we stay and had above and beyond...

We also got free cocktails for our trouble, which were delicious.
In terms of decor/furniture: the seats are kind of rickety and uncomfortable, though, both upstairs in front of the stage and downstairs, especially if you're a plus size person. The decor is very rustic, kitschy, and cluttered.
In terms of the food, one of our group got the "panier party", which she thought was ok except for the "munchers", which she thought were gross. I got the mac and cheese with the vegetarian protein option. I thought the mac and cheese was tasteless and I was not a fan of the protein (but that might just be a manner of preference). The other person got the burger and she enjoyed it a lot. It makes sense that the beef option was the best of the orders considering it is a steakhouse.
The live music upstairs was entertaining and the performer was...

Just 2 slices of overcooked flavorless beef. The waitress said it was cooked for 24 hours and smoked for one hour. Another guy who looked like the manager or owner said it was smoked for 24 hours. When I said I've been smoking brisket for years, they're aswer was "oh! We're talking to an expert here!?" Followed by, "it's funny, another customer took it and said it was delicious..." I don't expect to like everything I eat when I go to a restaurant, but don't I hate being shoved aside like I...
