Island Poké (Langford) — Restaurant in Langford

I love Island Poké. The Crunchii bowl is my favourite. Every time I order from this location I order ahead on the phone and it’s ready when I get there. The quality is always great and it’s one of the few places in this city that I genuinely enjoy ordering from. One time they made a mistake on our order and I had already come all the way back home and it was very inconvenient; however, I called and they took care of the issue. They told me that if I didn’t want to come back that the next evening I could come pick up the bowls and they’ll make it correctly. They kept their word and I really appreciated that. The girls I’ve encountered at this location are really kind. I do have to say that most times when I go to pick my order up they seem to be really struggling to get through their line up’s. I think Island poké should prioritize their bowls that they already feature on the menu, rather than the “make your own bowl” concept. I think that when people build their own bowl it just takes way more time for the employees to fulfill the order. One complaint I have about island poké is that their prices are quite high and I think they’re a bit over priced. Perhaps start some sort of loyalty program like a punch card. Had been to this location before and we loved it. We went today Sunday, July 2nd at 5:30pm and we had the worst experience. The lady working there wearing pink crocs was extremely unwelcoming since the moment we arrived. Taking our order felt like she was doing us a favour. When we paid, my husband asked for the receipt and she literally almost threw it at him. I asked for the bathroom and she barley pointed the kitchen not even proper directions. We ordered 3 pokes. Two to eat there and one to go. We were hoping we could eat our Pokes there with our 2 year old that was having a Tim Hortons muffin. She kicked us out in the most demeaning way. I am terribly shocked about her behaviour towards us since the moment we arrived. I understand that outside food is not allowed but never thought anyone would kick us out over a 2 year old eating a muffin while we eat food from the restaurant. When she kicked is out, I told her that the whole experience had been terrible since we arrived. She said, well just leave, you need to take care of your child. I thought that was extremely rude. We had the most horrible customer service experience when we visited here last night. We eat out quite a bit and have never encountered this kind of service anywhere. It is rare for us to post reviews, but unfortunately, we find this unacceptable, especially for a well-known restaurant in the Goldstream area. We didn't even feel like eating our poke bowl after the experience.

The staff who served us were extremely unwelcoming from the moment we entered the store. Their attitude towards us made us feel like we had done something terrible. They made it clear that they did not like us. We noticed that our portions were intentionally undercut, and we only received half scoops of the items we picked. As other reviewers have mentioned, the staff also pretended that they couldn't hear us properly. Overall, it just felt weird and awkward communicating with them.
