I recently dined at Sabhai Thai Restaurant, and I must say that my experience was rather disappointing. While the establishment has been touted as offering authentic Thai cuisine, the food fell short of my expectations.
Let's start with the food itself. I found it to be merely average, lacking the distinctive flavors and spices that are characteristic of authentic Thai cuisine. I would instead describe them as average Asian dish but not something “Thai”. (and…at the first place I got the wrong dish from another customer. 😅) The roll for lunch set tasted something Chinese rather than Thai which is very weird for me…you can still call that Asian though but not Thai I’m 100% sure.
The dish my friend ordered, specifically the noodles, was disappointingly salty. When she brought this concern to the attention of our waiter, we were taken aback by the response we received. The waiter's attitude was far from accommodating, responding with, "Isn't it what you asked for?" (Exact wording - I didn’t make this up) I don’t know if it’s common in Canada, but to us this kind of response was both unprofessional and discourteous for someone who asked for a tip after the meal.
While I understand that everyone's taste preferences may vary, I cannot recommend Sabhai Thai Restaurant based on my experience. The lack of authentic flavors, the salty noodles, and the dismissive attitude displayed by the waiter were significant drawbacks to an otherwise ordinary dining experience.
With so many other Thai restaurants in the area to choose from, I would suggest exploring other options before considering a visit to Sabhai...
Read moreMy first time @ Sabhai Thai in Langford; extremely busy on a Wednesday night! My acquaintance invited me out to his Favourite restaurant and it was a bit of a Wait to be seated. During the 2 weeks prior to Christmas, I believe there were Group Dinners, celebration of December birthdays, and Families out for Dinner together! We both dined on Ginger Chicken w/ bowl of our choice of Rice/Coconut Rice! The service was amazing and considering the Full restaurant, during the Dinner Rush, It was Well Worth the wait! My acquaintance & I enjoyed our conversation & the Water they have is very Refreshing! We had plenty of time to socialize & converse in a private and confidential manner. The server was sensitive to our needs & needless to say he earned a great Tip! I will be returning to the Sabhai Thai; even if I include them in my List of places to "Take Out" my Dinner! I learned that they are Open during Lunch, and provide a 'Lunch Buffet'. Since I rely on Transit, I do Not have to worry about parking. On Wednesday night the parking lot was Full after my acquaintance found a parking space. The location is perfect for individuals who live in the area, its walking distance is in close proximity to a BC Transit Bus stop on either side of Jacklin Road. Its in close proximity to the Tim Horton's on Goldstream Avenue. I had a lovely Dinner with my acquaintance & received the Best dinner service I have...
Read moreWe were told (by the manager, Sam) after waiting an hour and twenty minutes for our food ,that orders are pushed aside if another table does not order the same dish. This would mean that if you were the only customer to order, let's say no.29 on the menu and nobody orders that dish until the end of the night, your entire table must wait until the end of the night to receive their food. Obviously not the way to run a restaurant. Our reservation was for 6:00 p.m. and we received our food well after 7:00 p.m. The manager said that our order was not submitted until 20 minutes before we got it. Coincidentally, we had finally spoke to a server approximately 20 minutes prior so it was obvious that our order had been "pushed". The manager told us that they would like to make things right for us and asked us how they could make that happen. We suggested comping our dinner. The manager said that they could not do that. We decided to leave without eating our meals and I asked if she would rather waste the dinners than " making it right"and she replied "yes". The manager did offer to comp the birthday person (yes, we were there to celebrate) but that was not good enough and we told her so. As the person hosting the celebration, I was so embarrassed. As to how Sabhai Tai can do better, well, why not just ask how they can...
