La Tortilla Mexicana Deli & Grocery — Restaurant in Langford

This place has the best and most authentic Mexican food in the Greater Victoria area. I was sad when they closed up their wonderful restaurant in downtown Vic, though I can't say I blame them, and I knew I was going to check out their Langford establishment as soon as I was in that area. I had a chicken tamale on site which was very delicious and then I got two different chicken enchilada dishes for heat up at home so I could surprise my husband. They were even better than expected. The chipolte sauce was wonderfully flavorful and spicy and the verde sauce was delicious and a little more mild. The accompanying side dish of potatoes and carrots was so good! Those are not something I would usually get excited about, but I ate them all. In addition to delicious ready made food, there is also a great variety of Mexican groceries. I got some cassava chips and La Victoria green enchilada sauce which I remember fondly from my days in SoCal. Moved here 24 hours ago and I decided to try after seeing their menu on line. The dishes reminded me of my time in Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica and im so HAPPY I tried them for my first dinner in Langford. I had ordered the Chicken enchilads w mole but the needed more notice for the mole sauce, so I chose to go with the Verde option. I've had two bites and have ZERO regrets. I will Def give more notice next time so I can try their mole sauce. Burrito is massive but lack of flavor and mostly filled with rice and lettuce and not much meat. Protein selection is very minimal. Never been to a Mexican joint that doesn't serve carne ASADA or even Al pastor. I don't recommend this place because there's other food options in the area if your looking for Mexican food. The guy who I believe is the owner greeted us right away and try to convince us to buy something.
