I used to like ordering from here but that is no longer true, not since Uber Eats, Door Dash and Skip the Dishes has become part of their delivery system. Their souvlaki combo, if I ordered directly through the restaurant the price used to be $14.99 (as of the end of 2020 and it is still shown this price on their website) and the same combo was $17.99 with Uber. I was going to order today I called the restaurant and now their price for a "direct order", delivered, is $17.99. I cancelled my order but not before talking to the manager, in justification she tells me everything is going up, patronizingly giving lots of examples, I don't disagree. The general cost of living increase shouldn't surpass 6%, their price adjustment is about 20% from 2020 to 2021. I don't know the ins and outs of this restaurant but I suspect that many have dumped their in house delivery (I have good reason to believe this) and just use these services for all deliveries. Of course these services needing a cut to make profit have pushed restaurant prices up across the board. Not a good practice. With the likes of Uber involved, restaurants might just price themselves out of existence. Interesting that when I told the manager in Laval how much I have been paying for souvlaki in LaSalle, she says that the price I said was impossible, which is bizarre since I had souvlaki from LaSalle last week and know the price was $5.95 per pita not $7.99. She then jumps onto the idea that it must be a special, it could be but $5.95 for a souvlaki is about in keeping with the rest of the market. All this is a shame because the food itself is decent for a chain restaurant. Incidentally Souvlaki Vieux Grec who serves the same area of Laval has the same combo going for almost 20% less than Arahova, the quality is about the same, so you can decide for yourself if Arahova's 2 souvlaki fries and drink are worth $18 when the...
Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant at around 8:30pm and were seated right away. There were 2 other tables in the restaurant. We ordered a calamari as an entree, then about 10 minutes later we ordered our main dish even if we did not receive the calamari yet. Chicken pita with green salad and Greek potatoes. 10 minutes later, the waitress informs us and one of the other tables that there wasn’t anymore Greek potatoes and when the other client questioned the waitress, she simply said “well it’s 1.5 hours before closing anyways”. After a few take out orders coming and going, we see that our plates are ready and sitting on the counter before we even got our calamari. At this point it’s been about 30 minutes since we ordered them. As we eat out calamari, our dishes are still on the counter, and have been for about 20 minutes until the waitress brought it to us even if we weren’t finished our entree. Our pitas were cold, our french fries were cold, and our salad was warm. The kitchen staff should have realized that the dishes shouldn’t have gone out that way. The waitress should have said something when she saw our dishes just sitting there. Nobody cared enough to at least warm it up or even question it...Why serve cold food to...
Read moreThe vegan gyros and the souvlakis are the same thing: pita bread with a lot of onions and some tomatoes, spinach (I think?) and lettuce. What's really sad is that there is no meat replacement in them; so no source of protein, and also no sauce of any kind. Just dry vegetables (a mountain of onions).
This is the kind of food that I expect to get out of desperation at a place like Subway that does not have vegan options and where I am stuck making myself a custom sandwich. This should not be an actual option at a restaurant. When it's an option, people expect it to contain the things that it would normally contain but in their vegan version, not just the removal of them.
Would highly not recommend this if you are vegan (and hungry). If you're trying to lose weight and want to eat low calorie vegetables only - a salad on bread - then go ahead and eat here.
I will have to spend over 30 minutes to bake tofu and make my own Tzatziki in order to get what I should already have had with something that calls itself a souvlaki or gyro.
On top of this, I ordered these items as combos, and they were all missing the complementary garden salad and home potatoes that I chose on the Uber Eats menu. They really need to do...
