A buddy living near in the area of Laval Northeast who is an excellent chef and a previous restaurant owner, wanted some junk food. He got coupons in the mail and gave me a shout and we hung up for the day and we went to this Harvey's in his part of town. It was relatively empty and half of it was chained off. The good half with the booths that would have been comfortable. The metal chairs that I pulled out made that scraping metal heavy chair sound on the floor and the clientele was fairly sparse and rather shabby looking. The owner and his head cashier had to confer over the order that was very simple and I expected excellent hospitality from people that seem to be maybe Middle Eastern or some other nationality that is known for great food. I guess he bought the franchise for that location. My buddy wasn't impressed with their confusion and lack of service and rather sparse communication and not one smile. However the place is good looking and well kept and very clean and for a fast food place it was rather attractive looking, with a lot of glass to view out of and let in the light all around the place. I went for the Angus burger knowing that is the top quality one and my buddy had a burger that cost him he said a dollar or one and a half dollars less. That was no Angus burger meat but some prefab something or other and he felt the same about his regular burger. Fortunately there was an incredible charcuterie with amazing pastry that cleaned our pallets and we were pleased to go back to his place where he made fabulous cappuccinos along with the desserts we picked up. They meant not be able to control the franchise food quality in this Harvey's but it's a good looking fast food joint and looks all fresh and brand new and they could learn to smile and make it a friendlier experience. They look like they could definitely do a great job so maybe it's a new franchise or new people running it. The old standard of thank you for coming to wherever you are and we hope to see you again soon and whatever language you want to speak cuz I speak at least two languages and my buddy speaks three and they spoke poorly and communicated in almost the minimum of words and communication. They could do a lot better. Hopefully there was just a bad day for them cuz it was a good day for me and my buddy. Only the downside was the disqualified food quality compared to what it used to be at Harvey's. And it used to be junk food before then too but now it's good looking bad tasting junk food. Given that the junk food supply is controlled by the company, the place they could do better in with piping out some lovely music through the whatever speakers they may not have and to smile and make people feel welcome and appreciated. That certainly needs some improvement. . Otherwise it's one of the cleanest and better looking Harvey's I've been in over the years. I'd like to see them do better cuz everybody wants to be successful and they've got everything they need in place. Just the personality and the greetings is all that's missing. . I wish them the best of luck cuz it's time to turn on the charm...
Read moreI love Harvey's, but first and last time visiting this location. The owner, goes by the name of Bell when I asked to have his full name as I assured him that I would be making a formal complaint in regards to my in store customer experience. He treats his customers with no respect. I offended him when I asked to use my coupon codes, he refused every opportunity. He dispappeared for about 3 min, when I realized that he was serving the drive and counter tills. I was trying to décide what to order from the menu....But he was in such a hurry that he asked that I go to the back of the line if I was not ready to order.... the actual reason is that he was not interested in my questions about the menu. In my hot-dog, I wanted extra pickels, but apparently employes have received instructions.... as she did not want to put more than two, shaking her head 'NO' at me... I insisted that I wanted 4 and had to ask 3 times to be well served. This is the short version of my in store experience, my full statement was made at corporate level as I was humiliated, ridiculized and laughed at in the face by the store owner, after 2 days, I have not yet come around with this experience,...
Read moreHarvey's used to be the place for burgers in Montreal. They had fresh potatoes - good burgers and dogs. Then Cara Foods messed it up - first the fries - then the dogs and burgers. Now they dont even seem to monitor food quality.
This location has been around for a long time - they never consistently get it right. Once in a while its ok, many times I have been disappointed. Cold undercooked meat patties - old hot dog sausages kept in a tin can on the grill - that just tastes bad. You can not server customers an expensive grill cooked hotdog quicker than a steamy joint - its not possible unless you precook your sausages and toss them in a can - but then they looked all cheap and shriveled like on old man's chacha.
You need smart managers - cause CARA has a bad name in the restaurant business - they like to freeze it all.
Its so bad that the Tim Hortons has tons more business at lunch time and the drive through at Harvey's is empty and the Tim's drive through is often backed up all...
