We have been to Philinos multiple times with our family and have never been disappointed—the food and staff have always been amazing. Unfortunately, tonight completely changed that experience and left us feeling extremely insulted. It started right when we walked in: my 2-year-old picked up a fake olive that wasn’t even on the branch of the decorative tree at the entrance. She tried to eat it, we immediately stopped her, and what I assume was the manager made a comment along the lines of “yeah, maybe don’t break it off the tree.” I explained she hadn’t done that, but the remark already felt rude and unnecessary. Later during the evening, my daughters were excited and chatting (not screaming, just being kids), when a waitress who wasn’t even assigned to our table came over and actually shushed them. I was shocked—this is supposed to be a family restaurant! The tipping point came when the same waitress returned to tell me I needed to “control my kids” because supposedly some guests had left due to them. For context, we were 6 adults and 4 children under 5. Our kids were not misbehaving—if they raised their voices, we immediately told them to be respectful. They were simply enjoying themselves. To be told, essentially, to silence my kids in a family restaurant was the most insulting and disrespectful experience we’ve ever had dining out. I voiced this to the waitress, who then left our table. The manager never came over to apologize or clarify. The only one who showed any professionalism was our actual waitress, who was apologetic and even admitted she didn’t know why the other server interfered. We have always loved the food at Philinos, but after tonight, this will no longer be our go-to family restaurant. No family should be made to feel unwelcome or embarrassed simply because their children are...
Read moreEDIT: Since I can't seem to reply to response. Even the response makes no sense. Doesn't change the fact that your policy of charging full price for a 6 year old child on a group menu exists at no other restaurant, and you were advised there was 1 child, if we had said he was 5 he was free, we were honest and said his real age 6 were prepared to pay a fee, and were charged full price which is unheard of for 6 year olds. We did not expect him to be served a kids meal, but if you read the review I said if you want to charge full price you should at least bring a meal appealing to the child. Great foot regardless of how we were treated! FYI on Philinos Laval we went for a party of about 30 people 80$ a person. The food was great will start off by saying. However there was 1 child 6 year old and they tried to charge us 80$ for him. He had a slice of bread and butter and 2 strips of a chicken breast off a shared platter. For that price u better bring a specific plate for a child with a kids meal of fries or something. I understand paying for a child np but full adult price and bring nothing to appeal to a child seems like a money grab. Lady just kept repeating that’s their policy over five years old Full price. We didn’t mind paying a child fee that’s why we didn’t say he was 5 like most people would have. I have never heard of such a thing and have planned many parties at very nice places. We finished off agreeing to 40$ but was such a turn off!!!! I have the receipts if anyone wants to dispute this. I’d be...
Read moreNot a great experience at all. On Feb. 24th, 2022, around 6:00 p.m, we ordered 3 souvlakis. Each of them comes with baked potatoes and tzatziki. Both, baked potatoes and tzatziki were awful. Potatoes full of lime (I love citric flavors but that was really TOO MUCH lemon) and the tzatziki full of garlic ( I do like garlic too and the garlic flavor is what I like the most about Greek food but that was TOOOOO MUCH garlic and especially, TOOO MUUUCHHH dill). When we advised the waitress that we did not like the dish, the waitress called a Woman (who according to her, is one of the owners of the restaurant) who didn't even offer us to change the dish of exchange the potatoes for any other "option". That what probably the worst part of our experience in the restaurant: The poor customer service. She (one of the owners according to her) just stated: "that is how we cook n Greece and you need to pay for the dish". Finally, we got out of the place and we just pay for the salad (9 cad each) that comes with the souvlaki. I was kind hard to leave the place without paying for the full dish. We had to tell the owner that we prefer to call the police for her to let us go paying only for the salad. On top of that, the food was overpriced. the worst: The Customer server...
