Two stars for bad customer service. They got my recent order wrong and tried to negotiate to not give us the full correct order.
We started eating there since when they only had the single location on l'Acadie and we are big fans. Great food, fast service and good price (delivery or dine in). And since they opened the location in Laval, we were happy because it's even closer to where we live. When they first started, the food quality and service was the same as the original location because it seemed like they took some of the original staff that knew exactly what they were doing. However, recently it's been bad, the food is still great...but the new staff keep getting our orders wrong (I'd say 3 mistakes in 6/7 orders). One time, it was the wrong meat on the rice, we let it go because we are 15 min away, that's 30 min back and forth. Second time, we ordered Pho Bo Vien and it came with raw beef. Our toddler is too young for raw meat cooked in hot served broth, so we had to recook everything on the stove just to be sure. Third time, again Pho Bo Vien for our toddler, raw meat AGAIN, this time I decided to call and let them know... The girl apologized for the mistake and offered to give us the right order, keep the Pho Bo Vien that had raw beef and my husband would just have to go back and pick it up. My husband drove back and when he got in, he expected that the right order would be ready but it wasn't. By then my husband was already ticked off but did not want to make a scene, so he re-explained the situation politely to them just so they know which order it was about. The girl at the cash told my husband that since it was just the meat that was wrong, then they really just need to replace the meat... My husband again had to explain to them that the noodles touched raw beef and we did not feel comfortable just pouring the broth on the noodles to "cook" it and serve it to a 3 year old and insisted that the noodles should be included (by now, anyone reading this with any concept of customer service has to be wondering, why is the staff handling the situation like a rebellious teenager instead of true professional restaurant owner). This gets better... Back to the girl at the cash, she reluctantly accepted to include the noodles in the "free" order but said that no extra broth would be provided since the original broth was correct. So my husband though completely baffled by their lack of customer service settles for this flea market like deal... The end. Wait there's more: Girl at the cash tells my husband: next time can you please bring the incorrect order back? That's when my husband lost it. No no, there was no punches being thrown or tables being flipped, not even an ounce of profanity. My husband just called them out on the poor way they handled the situation...Basically explaining to them that when the restaurant makes a mistake, they should own up to it and not try to find excuse and negotiate their way out of a few meat balls, noodles and 1 big scoop of soup... and that the ONLY to handle such basic restaurant situation is to offer the right order for free without asking for the wrong food back and everyone turns the page and moves. So after 2-3 minutes of complaining, some older guy in the back walked out and "offered" the broth by asking "Do you want broth?". All this to say: improve or change the staff and please get your orders right.
PS. Not sure why you asked for the wrong order back, it's not like you can resell that... wait I hope you weren't actually thinking of doing that. But here's a picture of it. As you can see we had to recook everything to make sure the raw beef was...
Read moreWe took my son there on Halloween evening, since he didn't want to go trick-or-treating. We figured he'd be impressed by the robot serving the dishes.
Upon arrival, I was surprised to see the dishes being served by a waiter. I asked the guy at the counter if the robot is functional and he replied yes. I asked if they're using it and again he replied yes. I went back to my table and we all (3 people) placed our orders.
To my surprise (and even greater disappointment): The entrées (soups and spring/imperial rolls) were served by...a waiter. The main dishes were served immediately after the entrées (within 2 mins)...by a waiter again.
Throughout the entire meal, not once were we checked-on to see if we needed a refill of water or drinks. Dishes were picked up in a reasonable fashion. However once the table was cleared, no one came to ask if we'd like dessert or coffee/tea. My son was excited to have the fried banana but after having waited 20-30 mins, he changed his mind in disappointment.
After all this and to my disbelief, the robot served 2 tables, including the one next to us.
With my son's disappointment and us now running late, I got up and went to the counter to pay. I dealt with the same guy that I had asked about the robot, upon entering. He asked if it was good. When I told him that I was disappointed because I asked about/for the robot from the start and that all was served by a waiter, he simply asked: "The food was good?" He really didn't seem to care.
He went on to tell me the amount to pay. I asked him for the bill, to which he responded: "After you pay!". Now irritated, I asked him: "So, I can't see what I'm paying for until after I pay?". He grabbed the paper from the pad that the waiter scribbled the order on (which was illegible and obviously with no prices on it) and turned it for me to look at.
I was annoyed and paid (and stupidly left a undeserved) tip.
TO SUMMARIZE: Excellent won ton soup, good imperial rolls, terrible spring rolls and barely acceptable meal (shrimp is good, but the beef and chicken are dry)....and ALL RUINED BY TERRIBLE SERVICE AND CLIENT...
Read moreI’m literally sitting in the parking lot after trying this restaurant, regretting that I even gave them my money or a chance after seeing their poor reviews. If it was my money versus expensing, I would have asked for it back. The woman in charge is grumpy and hateful. If you like a place with too many pings and beeps and everything going off while you’re eating, you’re in the right place. It was completely consistently annoying. If you like a restaurant that says one thing on their website for what their offerings are, and something else all together in person, you’ve come to the right place. BTW, NO BANH MI HERE. FYI in case you saw it online and thought you’d come here. It’s not even on the menu. If you like your shrimp rolls full of only iceberg lettuce and two small pieces of shrimp versus any other cucumber or sprout or anything to make it tasty, then you’ve come to the right place. If you like fried wontons that basically have no taste just crunch, you’ve come to the right place. If you try to order a shrimp vegetable soup and add chicken and want to be argued with that you should order a chicken soup and add vegetables, then you’ve come to the right place. If you order takeout and ask for a spoon, expect to have it thrown down at you on a dirty table very distastefully. Was it because I was too nice? No smile I gave her could break her ignorant attitude. I can definitely understand why this restaurant is so poorly rated. From the moment I walked in all alone on this trip, I felt unwanted. Very rare with all the restaurants I go to across the nation. Life might be hard, business might be tiring, but you never treat a customer like I was just...
