Ottavio — Restaurant in Laval (administrative region)

Here is a place I was rooting for and was disappointed. So why am I giving it a 4 star? Several reasons.

I am a very big lover of any pasta al la Gigi. Was really disappointed. I get that plate in every Italian restaurant and that is the first place where I actually found that it didn't taste good. My wife ordered the veal and it came slathered in sauce. It honestly looked like those frozen dinners.

I believe the issue was our choice of plates.

The pizzas that were passing by us looked amazing. Other tables that had mussels looked really happy with their meal.

My son has allergies and they were super organized with how they treated him. Even the plate serving parmesan cheese for pasta is completely seperate. So if your child has allergies then this is the place to go.

The staff is just incredible. I couldn't get over how they have such a young staff and yet they were all super efficient and professional. And this observation is not only for the ones serving us. So when you have such a young group to be working so well and be in good spirits shows that the place has good management.

Great atmosphere as well. Prices are pretty decent. And it is a bring your own wine.

I rarely leave bad reviews but honestly, I don’t even know where to start. From the moment we sat down till we paid, we had a terrible service! I try to cut some slack because I know everywhere is understaffed but the service we got was worst than McDonalds. It took at least a good 20 mins before our bottle of wine was open. I feel like the menu for people who have allergies is very small compared to the regular menu. We waited for more than 1:30 for the food. After an hour, we’ve mentioned that 2 tables of at least 5 people that came after us received their appetizers and main course before we got our food, the server didn’t have a care in the world and didn’t even offer to see what was taking so long. Another 30 mins had went by, we said to give us the check because it was unacceptable, that’s when he offered a min a of customer service. Not once he said he was sorry or nothing. When I paid, since the tip wasn’t to his liking, he threw the receipt on our table and left! This has never happened to me in my life! I will never step foot in one of your...

I’m sitting in the restaurant right now and writing this review. It’s a FAB dining option for all tastes. Their menu caters to many allergies as well. This was my first visit. I’m in YUL for business. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town. I ordered the lamb, which is served on a bed of pappardelle. I thought I’d still be hungry, with the size of the typical nice meal like that, so I ordered calamari to start. The app was huge, I ate half. Dinner came and it was surely enough for 2.5 people, so I only ate about half. The other half is coming back to the hotel with me. I didn’t want to eat more on the lamb as I heard their crème brûlée was good. It was beyond good. I wanted to order two. Every plate I saw going by was generous. Every staff member going by was smiling and hospitable. I had a highly positive first experience, and I look forward to the next meal here....
