I absolutely love this place and I'm a picky eater. Leamington had good food variety in general - Mexican, Thai, Greek and Lebanese, along with a pizza place on almost every corner (some used to be across the street from each other) - but you often start to see repeating menus. Ultimately, you're exposed to tacos, gyros and enough pizza to be coming out of your ears. We even had a pizza/sushi restaurant once. So it was a pleasant change to visit Pho Saigon and get an authentic meal of Vietnamese origin, something that I havent been exposed to much since Windsor. And boy let me tell you, when you figure out which bowl is for you, you're hooked. It took a few decent meals to find the perfect one. My choice is beef with rice noodle and my goodness...I could eat that for days. (I believe it's #23, but dont quote me on it, I'm awful with remembering numbers.) And as an added bonus for myself, during days not plagued with this pandemic, I used to have the opportunity to sit and enjoy my meals in what is arguably one of the top 3 personal favorite restaurant ambiances in this town. The interior is unique, cozy and charming. I get to watch retro music videos from the 90s while watching some delightful little fishies swim around in one of their few aquariums. I absolutely love this place, but as usual, a review is highly subjective. Please be your own judge, and go over there and test the waters yourself. At the very least, you will end up with a massive portion size for what's basically peanuts in price. For 8 dollars or so, you get a small bowl, which defies all expectations you have of the word "small". Even if you dislike the meal, you can't front on that serving size. I've walked out of this restaurant stuffed to the rafters and missing less than 10 dollars out of my pocket. Wonderful meal, wonderful place, and wondefful price - Pho Saigon is solidly within my top favorite...
Read moreWe are from out of town and in search of some food that you would consider staple food. What is more familiar than a good bowl of Pho. Walking in the decor struck me as being an eclectic mix of time warp meets typical Asian restaurant. The bathroom was oddly configured, but functional. The TV's were playing much music style music videos from the 80s and 90s. It kept our attention when we probably should have been having good conversation. The menu was small in comparison to other Pho places we frequent back home I'm Mississauga. I ordered a typical bowl of beef soup and a side of pork rolls. Others in our party ordered wonton, fried rice, chicken-rice-egg etc. So safe to say we had a good cross section of the menu in front of us. I heard no complaints. I have to point out that the broth was different. There was a slight fish sauce that was more pronounced than I'm used to. Not to say it wasn't good, just different. I opted for egg noodle vs rice noodles. The egg noodles were subpar and have had better. The amount of beef could have been more, but it was just enough to satisfy. The gentleman serving us was kind and helpful which is always nice. Typically at a Pho restaurant you would be lucky to get any more than business as usual talk. He asked us where were from and what brings to his sleepy little town. Overall I would recommend this place and would likely return should we find ourselves back here. However something tells me he has the cornered the market...
Read morePho was on par and Rice Vermicelli with pork was good. Only complaint was a server who was sitting at the back on his phone constantly rubbing his fingers through his hair, scratching his head and not washing his hands in-between serving customers. Also when a customer dropped their entire bubble tea that same server passed her paper towels so she could clean the floor herself although he helped a little bit I thought that to be odd for the customer to clean the floor, and why not...
