Best bread in Lethbridge. Update Sept. 2020: I still stand by that review. However, as of yesterday, I will not be back. Here's why: A couple of years ago, I used to stop in for a jalapeno "something". Depending upon the day/week, different jalapeno products were available. Many times the jalapeno products were sold out. Every time this occurred, I made a mental note that the "herb & feta" product shelf was almost full. When that happened, I suggested they make less feta and more jalapeno. One day they just discontinued jalapeno products alltogether. They still don't make jalapeno products.
Now, yesterday, I went in for a "ham & cheese pull-apart". This is another product that is hit & miss due to sell-outs. Well, no more "ham & cheese". Apparently, according to the employee, it is so difficult to produce this product that it was impacting their ability to produce regular bread and buns. And, "supply & demand, you know", was the final comment from the employee. That makes no sense whatsoever. If you have a premium product that consistently sells out, MAKE MORE. It's a premium product, you make a much higher percentage of profit on a premium product! If you need more staff, then, hire more help so you can make and sell more items, thus making more profit! Finally, I know that you claim to take orders for discontinued products, but making items to order is not an option for out-of-towners that often visit Lethbridge spontaneously. So, in retail, I vote with my feet ($$), and my feet won't be visiting your store for quite some time. Maybe when I return you will have come to your senses and implemented some basic retail marketing concepts (and some jalapeno products).
Update Sept. 24, 2023: Well, bacl up to 4 stars. I visited today and was able to purchase jalapeno twist bread. Hooray, and thanks...
Read moreI walked into an immaculately clean store. The products looked incredible. Staff was friendly and quite personable - no fault there. My purchase was 1 pull apart ham and cheese loaf, 2 scones and 2 of the small buns (forgot name). Looked amazing and smells good. Cost 12.80 +tax. I am usually a thrifty shopper but had been waiting for the store to open and wanted to treat myself. So why the 3 stars? Fair question. The Ham and cheese pull apart was $6.5 for 6.5 I want some ham and cheese IN the loaf, not a single speck. I opened it to find nice but utterly plain white bread, 5-7 pieces of ham the size of 2 Tic tacs for that price is frankly embarrassing. I then moved on to the roll, no complaints, it was exactly as I hoped, fresh, dense, nice. This morning I looked forward to a raspberry scone. Beautiful on the out side, hard to swallow, I spit some out and truthfully gagged trying to finish it. I was greeted by strong salt on one side and sugar on the other, a odd and unpleasant combination - no consistency with taste. The real killer though was the horrible textures ranging from dirt dry to what could only be described as undercooked dough, maybe the moisture of the raspberry, but I mostly just think a pretty terrible scone batter. And just like the cheese bread, any flavour/filling was purely on the outside for show, a bit on the side, nothing IN. Had I know I would of spent $2 of Bisquick and at least had consistency in taste and texture. I wanted to like this place, I wanted to be impressed, I wanted a product that tasted as good or nearly so as it looked.
End result: I'd like about half my money back since obviously it can't be resold and a coffee to rid me of the scone memory, really was damn awful. Very pretty product, very pretty product that is FAR too costly and not...
Read moreGood products. Never had a complaint, except with consistency on scones. I buy 6 blueberry lemon and often there are varied sizes, differing amounts of glaze and even noted a difference in freshness within a box.
What gives this place a 2 star rating is the customer service. Literally EVERY TIME I go in I am faced with people who really seem like they don't want to be there. Never get a smile. Never anything that even comes close to what I call excellent (or even good) customer service. Nobody has ever made an impression on me. Nobody has ever engaged with me for even a minute. Just wrap my stuff with a bland face and no smile, yeesh! I always have a feeling when I leave that is like a giant SIGH. Honestly, if there was another location on this side of town I'd never go back. It would be nice to feel even a little bit like my business is valued or appreciated! I have had this experience many times but definitely on my last visit on December 1, 2021. I have even ordered from here via SKIP, only in order to avoid the customer...
