South St. Burger — Restaurant in Lethbridge

I don't think I’ve ever written a bad review before but tonight I will. So I go to use a free 4oz burger coupon which doesn’t expire until like 2999 right. Turns out that’s only for Calgary locations, I hadn’t realized that so totally fair that they refused it, however then I tried to use a buy one get one coupon, that only says you can’t use it at stampede grounds (obviously not Lethbridge), this expires around the same date as the other one and they refused it as well because “they don’t have a button for that”. Now let’s get this back this up to what I said at the beginning, I don’t write bad reviews, this is because I work in service, so I am quite understanding of things that happen at restaurants, mistakes happens. Another note to add working at south st. Burgers was my first job and my dad builds the restaurant so close ties to the owners. Anywho with all of that knowledge I am well aware that POS machines have a manual dollar and percent discount. I know for sure that this company also has this type of discount option because 1.I used to work there and 2.Ive worked numerous other service jobs and 3.because I used the free 4oz burger coupons 2 separate times before at this location, they just didn’t let me tonight. Another notes to add is that I know their burgers are five oz now not 4oz so if they really wanted to be technical about it they could of just discount $7.15 rather than the full 8.95 that would free up the 4oz. Anywho right, whatever they don’t accept the coupons I pay for my food as normal, and then they forgot my side salad. We ordered two meals total. So four things not some huge complicated order. Anyways any south st. Burger is delicious and love the Calgary owners, but extremely disappointed with the service they’re offering at this new location. one of the ladies were really nice about it, but the other one, I think was the manager was super serious, and as someone who works in service, that’s not how I would talk to a customer. Overall, really...

Today's visit was absolute garbage. My daughters and I went in and tried to order one of their specials. They do not allow for a paid upgrade to a GF bun for that one, and my youngest is extreme Celiac. So, we ordered different combos.

Secondly...the pop machine was covered in ants. That's not a fresh spill...that's a machine that hasn't been cleaned in a LONG time.

Third...they got at least 2 of the 3 burger loads wrong, including mixing up which one got the GF bun after being told about my daughter's dietary requirements.

Finally...the fries were lukewarm and rock hard, meaning that they had been sitting there, stale for at least half an hour. We were even there when an elderly gent asked for fresh fries because his were stale, hard and barely warm. I can't confirm, but wouldn't be surprised to find out that they re-served the fries that were returned.

Frankly...we've been regulars there since they opened, but we will NOT be returning. The service, food and condition of the restaurant were unacceptable and, to be blunt, they should be embarrassed. It wouldn't be out of line for a health inspector to pay them a visit...and this is coming from someone who has spent years in the...

Food and service was best I have ever received when visiting lethbridge! The staff was very polite and professional and the food was absolutely spectacular! Watching them cook and prepare it was really nice and when asking for more of a top and extra lettuce for the lettuce bun the staff was polite and accommodating while keeping a smile and talking in a polite manner! Very rarely leave five stars ever or tip at restaurants that arent dine in but I was absolutely blown away by both the staff that handled me and by the meal provided! I had been disappointed by the food I got at green wok just a few minutes prior and figured I'd give this place a shot and not only am I very happy that I did but I have found a new go to place for food whenever life brings me back into town at lethbridge! Give this place a try I am all but guaranteeing that you will love it! The service and the food were enough to bring me back and the cost was well worth it with it being about the same as a low end...
