Driving through Beamsville the words “southern seafood’ caught our attention. As lovers of Southern cooking and seafood, We knew we needed to check this place out. The dining room is very spacious and you do not feel confined or cloistered together.
The menu has a lot of great southern inspired seafood items from cajun country including catfish, crawdads, crab, jambalaya, and much more.
We enjoyed some cajun caesars for our cocktails. With the insanely large skewers.
Meals ordered: Cajun Catfish – which is a wild caught catfish – and has a bit of a more gamey taste than the farm raised that you may be used to. Spicy Chicken and waffles – which was delightful – the spice was cut nicely by the delicious maple syrup. The Special – which was an oven baked salmon with hollandaise sauce, and grilled asparagus.
A bowl of Seafood chowder was a must-try to get the full authentic experience. It was a large bowl filled with various seafood items, and served with jalapeno cornbread.
The food was delicious – everything tasted great, was beautifully cooked, and well presented.
The Prices: Prices range from $17-30 per meal – all very fair market value for the items. The special of Salmon was about $37 – for more details on their prices – see their menu.
The service is very good – the waitress was very attentive and friendly
Parking – there is plenty of parking around back, with a back door entrance through their outdoor patio.
Overall experience. We truly enjoyed this dining experience at Sassafras Coastal Kitchen Southern Seafood restaurant. This is a lovely place to go for a good meal or for a special occasion. It’s not a cheap meal but it is a nice dining out experience.
We will definitely be back – and try more items on their...
Read moreTalking this in advance so that there is no misunderstanding, the restaurant owner and food r good, BUT the two staffs are suck. There was a man hair on the chicken and we waited for at least one hour to get our food and the attitude of the waitress is really bad. The pasta is not very cooked and a little hard. And the steak is terrible. And also I think the waitress is a little bit discriminate, when they treat the white people is totally different from treat Asians. When they treat white people they smile and get the food very quickly for them; but when with Asians, they put the menu on the table in a very rude way, which gives a feeling like dropping on the table accidentally. When we said that there has a man hair on the chicken the waitress said “so what do you want to do I can give you another chicken wing” that attitude was actually really really bad. But in this whole restaurant I fell like others are very good only these two waitresses let me fell so bad. Also at the hour that we wait for our food that there is no one in the restaurant only our table, and the drinks that we get was not full. And when we want get the bill no one come or ask us they always said wait a minute and give food to other tables and we wait for another 30 minutes. It sucks! So I really recommend that the restaurant could training the waitresses better, but I want to say that there has a waiter was really really good and the owner is really really nice and other waitresses are also very good only these two...
Read moreUnfortunately, I cannot agree with all the praising in the reviews. I went to this restaurant last night, pretty stoked on how the menu looked and everyone raving about it. I ordered the bayou bullets which were two jalapenos wrapped in bacon. This was the highlight of my dinner - pretty good - but so spicy because they didn't clean all the seeds out of the jalapeno. I love spicy food but a lot of people do not so this should probably have a warning on it. I wasn't sure if I wanted the mac n cheese or the Baja tacos. The waiter told me the mac n cheese was the way to go because I can't make it at home myself. First off, it looked nothing like the pictures. Secondly, I can make 10 times a better mac n cheese. It had absolutely no flavour, it was watery, and the pulled pork on it smelled old like it was almost rotten. I didn't get sick from it but I expected to. My friend ordered the jambalaya and it was not flavourful at all. The sausage tasted like processed hot dogs and it had absolutely no spice to it which was the complete opposite for the appetizer. We ordered the giant pecan pie to hopefully save our meals and it was just mediocre. They warmed it up but then didn't serve it à la mode so I'm not sure why it went in the microwave first. Overall, definitely don't go there. It was such a disappointment. I will not return. I don't believe the reviews posted on here anymore and so I'm posting this to give you...
