祥德齋 XIANG DE ZHAI — Restaurant in Markham

I'd give this place ZERO stars if I could.

The food is not terrible, but the woman taking the order at the front is. I saw another review on yelp that shared the same awful experience. She seems to have a bad habit of treating customers very badly at the end of the day (8 pm).

My mother wanted something to eat (after leaving the hospital, loosing her husband of 50 years). She had a combo option that we asked for but wasn't available. Instead of politely telling us it was sold out, she scoffed and laughed in her native Mandarin to the chef inside "Ha! They want the combo" As if how dare we asked for something she had on her menu while her shop was still open.

Even if her food was good (it's passable, it's not the greatest tasting bun you'll ever consume) I would not give this woman any opportunity to my hard earned cash. Disgusting attitude.

There are other vendors out there with better quality that will serve you with...

The hefty portion of dumplings really fill my urge for good hot food today! I’ve worked in Tianjin for quite a long period of time, and the food in this shop really reminds me of the happy days in the cold winter in TJ. The wrapping of the dumplings are rather thick, which is meant to be like having Ravioli for dinner. This is local Tianjin style as they don’t usually have rice or noodles but just one big bowl of dumplings for a meal. An average TJ man will easily eat 30 pcs a meal but for me I can’t finish one order of 16. My picky daughter also approves the taste :)) Do try their pan fried beef cakes too. Considering all made on order, 7 minute is worth the wait.

P.S. pls ignore the sushi which is from the same...

Some tasty dumplings that were thoroughly enjoyed by the family.

The dumpling skin had a nice chew to it, but some parts were too chewy. However, with that being said, one of my main factors on delicious food is if the kids can just eat them all! And they loved it, which is a great sign!

If the kids approve, I would definitely come back again! The dumplings are made on site and you can also buy packs of frozen ones but it is a little bit pricier for the amount you get, but would still love to try it out one day considering how they taste!

Will definitely come back to try more items!
