Ordered four mains and an app. Sweet & sour pork, Belachan beef fried rice, Chinese broccoli w/ beef, Cha siu and 6pcs of shrimp rolls. Total after discount came to $53.
Sweet n sour pork was good but the pieces were quite huge. I like to eat meat but even for me this was a bit too big. Not too much battering so it was a good balance of both. Was not soggy too so they probably double fried the meat.
Belachan fried rice, you can taste a bit of the spiciness but it's not spicy for all you spicy lovers out there. But the fried rice was fried well since each rice was separated and not sticking to each other.
Chinese brocoli was cooked perfectly, not too soft and crispy still. Beef is alright.
The cha siu is standard ordering, so you can't pick what part you want and how many pounds. The piece we got is half lean half fat, overall the dry parts were still somewhat moist not too dry.
The shrimp roll was soggy by the time I got back home so can't give it a genuine review. However, did not get much shrimp inside the roll, mainly veggies. Comes with a side of mayonnaise dipping sauce. Classic.
Overall the food was not bad. I had to pick it up during rush hour and going home was another 15-20 minutes. When I got home the food was still warm so definitely got the 'wok hay' (fire intensity) there. I'm sure if the food was eaten immediately after it was cooked it would have been much better. I forgot to take a picture of the food before eating so you can only see part of the food. What we ordered was more than enough for 4 people.
And with the take out discount that they are promoting right now, it's definitely a bang for your buck. Noticed on the online menu, they have the group specials but don't list what is include. I have attached a picture of their group specials.
There is no indoor seating so there is absolutely no atmosphere here if you are looking to dine in. Its literally a kitchen and a small pick up area. But this category is not important for me.
There is enough parking but getting into the plaza is a little tougher depending on what time of day you go as it's located next to the GO station.
Overall, definitely worth...
Read moreThis place is on uber eats, when you open the resto, they have posted a bunch of buy 1 get 1 free. So i put in an order of roast pork. Going though the menus of chinese restos is like flippin pages of an encyclopedia. After a few mins i made 4 choices of dishes and placed my order. I have a 3month old son and the demands sometimes doesnt allow me to cook on some days so relying on these services were a luxury and necessity at the same time. I received an update from the app and said one of the 4 dish was sold out so i edited the order and was left with 3. A few moments passed, i received a voicemail from the resto and said they dont offer the BOGO dish, and one item i picked from the menu they dont even make at all. And the one that was sold out. So only 1 was now available. The resto said they cancelled my order. I clarified why the app still saying my order is being prepared, resto reiterated that they cancelled. So i thought the app was just delayed and i cancelled on my end to be able to order from another place as i was starving. Suddenly i got a charge of the 4 dishes initially ordered because apparently I was the one that cancelled. I find this to be false advertising and deceitful, overall a hassle. I went for this place because of how influencers on social media have really good reviews for this new place a d would also love to support them. I had to call uber eats to rectify my charge when i wasnt even catered by the resto. So they got my money without even having the food at all. Idk if they do that on purpose or they dont have idea they need to update their menu and not place any false promotion but they did and it seems...
Read moreWe tried this place due to an Instagram post and it’s close to home so thought to take advantage of their 40% off deal. We didn’t love it but for the price you pay, you do get a lot of food.
We ordered the beef brisket noodle soup - this was a good value! We ordered the large size which gave a lot of beef brisket and vegetables. Most places only give you a few pieces but the large size was packed with beef. For $21.50, that is what I’d expect though.
The half roasted duck was ok but had a lot of bones. Could have just been that one as I’ve seen other photos that look better.
Shanghai Noodles was full of cabbage and some decent sized shrimp. Only about 3-4 but the container was super full so you do get your value here though the taste was a bit bland.
BBQ Fried Rice was decent. Also packed full. This was actually not bad.
We also ordered the honey pepper chicken - I had thought this was wok-cooked but it’s lightly battered and deep-fried. It tasted fine - the kids liked that it was fried and sweet.
Finally, I had a lunch portion of bitter melon and beef with rice. It came with soup and a spring roll. This was a good value - lots of rice, beef and bitter melon.
All in all, pretty decent but nothing spectacular and some dishes were a bit bland. I think there are better options around, and it’s a bit confusing - are they trying to be authentic Chinese, or Canadian-Chinese food? There’s a little bit of both but neither...
