Lazeez Shawarma — Restaurant in Markham

It’s with a heavy heart I’m writing this review on how awful my recent experiences have been at Lazeez Shawarma, this location in particular.

I have been going to this location, and this location only since 2019 consistently, and today will be my last! I have never seen a restaurant decrease in quality as fast as Lazeez, especially this particular location.

If anyone knows what I’m talking about, it’s started since that really friendly gentleman on the larger side stopped supervising the store. From then on, the quality has decreased more and more every couple months, and so have my visits. I was craving shawarma and went here even though I said I never would. I really regretted it.

The food tastes awful, absolutely awful. The fries taste and feel like cardboard and the seasoning on the beef is way too strong and unpleasant. Not like the beef they made before. The only thing they didn’t screw up is the rice. But let’s be honest here, how hard is it to really screw that up? It’s not authentic middle eastern long grain rice either. They use short grains, but at least it tastes somewhat fine. The taste of the sauces were appalling, I have the feeling they’re inauthentic as the tahini didn’t taste like tahini, and the garlic sauce didn’t taste even remotely like garlic sauce. I’ve never been a picky eater, and I have the ability to eat most things I find disgusting without spitting it out or feeling like throwing up. This is the first time food from anywhere has made me want to genuinely vomit. The nausea due to the taste afterwards was atrocious. I didn’t finish and threw it out, and went home to pop a couple Tums.

I can’t believe this is the same Lazeez I’ve been to all these years! Did the owner sell the store to someone else? Was there a change in the franchise? I mean, what the heck is going on here? I can tell business has been bad for them as well, and with the recent influx of poorly rated reviews in the recent months and the BOGO deals on Uber Eats trying to appeal to more people, I think I’m right.

Won’t be coming back! The most disgraceful restaurant/franchise in all of GTA. I went home tonight envying my dog. Maybe next time I’ll just have what...

Where to start? Disrespectful staff, drawer meat, and when you ask for extra toppings (and are willing to pay for them) and still don't get what you want. Jordan's Shawarma at John street and Leslie is much much better! You can't even compare the quality. This is the only location of Lazeez we have been to, because it's in our area, but it's a disappointment. Who uses 2 pitas to make a "large" sandwich/wrap? Not sure about a second chance at all with Lazeez, but definitely not at this location. Food wasn't even good and definitely not worth it in terms of price and quality. Edit based on response from Lazeez: I'm sorry you could not respond in a professional manner and address eveything said in the review, but that's okay. The quality of your shawarma is not there, I'm not sure why you feel the need to express that people will not find "quality" like Lazeez. There are plenty of shawarma places in the area that are much better in terms of overall experience with the restaurant and the quality of food is superior to yours. Reviews are opinions based on visits, maybe understand that better? Just because I had a bad experience does not mean that you cannot succeed and make things better. It's all about how you take the feedback and more forward and create a better environment. Edit 1: shawarma here is never the same..one day will be full the next day the wrap will be half the size. You ask for anything "extra" they add 2 olives, what a joke. I've had hair in my wraps 2 times already and they call themselves clean. Also, why is that this location doesn't accept credit cards? Lazees policy doesn't state this, so please let us all know why you only take...

Been coming to this location for 7+ years but after tonight I will NO longer be returning! Normally I order from the owner or the wife and their kids. Lady working tonight is clueless when it comes to basic hygiene and owner should be notified of this ASAP before the health department shuts them down……

Lady working uses her glove to put the chicken into the wrap but then decides to touch the screen for another persons payment then puts the SAME glove back on and proceeds to finish the wrap…. A moment later she uses the glove to touch money then uses the SAME glove to put veggies into my wrap contaminating all the veggies. Gets better though, she then uses the SAME glove instead of a spoon to put the chicken and fries into my other combo I ordered.

I told her out of respect that I refuse to take the food and she is shocked as she believes she’s done nothing wrong…. She offers to remake the food again but fails to realize that she CONTAMINATED all the chicken, veggies and fries. I really hope the location looks into this and throws out all that food before people get sick especially the people who ordered after I left.
