If I can leave zero stars, I will leave zero stars. I usually never leave reviews for restaurants let alone a restaurant I haven't even eaten in. I just had the most mortifying and embarrassed experience in my life ever today and will not be coming to this restaurant ever again. I was going to meet my friend there for dinner today. I walked in as would any other restaurant, told the server I need a table for two. The guy never asked me or told me anything and pointed me to a table for two. I sat down since I was a bit early I looked at the menu and then started to look at my phone while I waited for my friend. Then the server looked at me and asked where my friend is, I told him she's coming. Only at that point he mentioned that they don't sit people down until the whole party is here. He never mentioned it when he sat me down. So as luck would have it my friend was late so I decided I would order first. The server won't even let me order!!! I said if my friend is not coming and I'm eating alone you will still give me the same table, which is true they do not have tables for one. The server I insisted not to take my order and said some illogical thing about if my friend comes it will take us longer to eat. There isn't any sign restricting how long you can stay and eat there at all. Sure enough a couple came through the door and they kicked me out of my table where I had already been sitting to give that table to that couple. I have never been treated worse ever at a restaurant. I ended up storming out and when my friend came we went somewhere else. Don't ever come here to eat if you want to be treated like a decent human being! You can get better customer service eating at a food court than...
Read moreMy Wife and I were interested in trying something different from our usually chinese/japanese eating spots. So we Googled cheap eats in our area and Pa Pa Chang's on 16th Ave was on the list so we decided to give it a shot.
Place was a little small for seating arrangement however. On our arrival the place was near packed, we were lucky to get a seat upon our arrival.
My wife decided on a Bento box with braised pork and I opted for a rice bowl with Minced pork and Taiwanese sausage. Def worth return visit for the Taiwanese Sausage (at least for me, wife was so-so on the sausage) For Filipino readers, the sauce in the rice dish I ordered might remind you of an Asado flavored sauce.
To say the least we were skeptical on the portions. The price was right for our budget. However upon finishing the meal, we realized we were really full and we were more than satisfied with the meal. So don't let the visual perception of the portioning fool you. Oddly enough 2 nights previous we went to a Korean BBQ resto for dinner and we were actually more full with eating less food after dining at Pa Pa Chang's. Which is interesting to note.
we learned there is a branch at Pacific Mall, so we shall take a visit to that spot on our next outing for Taiwan/Japan munchies. We are looking forward to trying their popcorn chicken!
We like drinking water with our meals usually, and it was really appreciated that at least the Highway 16 location of Pa Pa Chang's offers filtered water and not from tap. So kudos to Pa Pa Chang's on their offering of good tasting water.
Worth the trip, 45--50 min with weekend traffic. we are crossing our fingers that the Pacific Mall Pa Pa Chang's is just...
Read moreGreat place for Taiwanese comfort food. Simple seating, friendly service, hot tasty dishes with good portions and very reasonable prices.
We were given small bowls without having to ask so we could share dishes if we like. Water was refilled without having to ask as well. Only cash or debit (no credit cards) is accepted. If you pay cash, there is a 10% discount.
We ordered:
K14 Strawberry Milk Green Tea $3.50. Good drink for the price.
A08 Skewer Chicken $6.99. Light, crispy breading. Wasabi sauce drizzled on top is excellent.
A10 Popcorn Chicken $7.49. Breading is a bit thick. Not too oily. Dipping sauce is good. Wish there was basil which is normally a part of this dish.
A03 Deep Fried Fish Cake $5.99. Tasty and crispy. Good dipping sauce.
R02 Taiwanese Sausage & Minced Pork on Rice $6.99 +$1 marinated boiled egg. Sausage is a bit dry. Wish there was more minced pork. More rice in this dish then would have liked.
R07 Curry with Pork Chop Rice. $7.99. Large piece of meat. Not too much rice. Good curry flavour.
B06 Deep Fried Pork Chop Bento $8.49. Comes in a plastic bento box. Good pork chop and side dishes.
N04 Minced Pork Noodle Soup with chilli sauce on the side $8.49. Delicious. Excellent portion. Chili sauce has a nice level of heat and fried shallot bits. Really enjoyed this dish. Noodles were perfect with just the right amount of ingredients.
A very enjoyable family dinner. Food arrived quickly. Had to wait a bit to get the bill because it got busy at the time we were ready to leave but overall we were in and out in about an hour. Would definitely go back again. Definitely one of the better Taiwanese places to...
