Excellent food. I had never eaten "Hakka" dishes before my visit in May. I enjoy Indian food and asian food. I ordered the Hakka Soft noodles with chicken... AMAZING... wonderful flavour, texture and presentation. Just thinking about this simple dish is mouth watering.
The decor was very nice as well. Lots of couples and families enjoying the restaurant for the late hour on a Tuesday.
The ONLY issue I had was service. Honestly, the service was a little bit off. Was this because at 9pm I was the only white Canadian diner and mature? I was seated at a table of my choosing and enjoying my beverage when the server asked me if I would switch tables because a young couple wanted my table. I was surprised and thought about it. The young couple dressed very trendy were watching me... wtf? I said... "no" I am quite happy and comfortable. The server went and spoke with the couple in non-english and sat them at a table close to mine. They quickly looked over the menu and then left glaring at me. Another server spoke with the first one and they both looked over at me as though I did something wrong. Very odd... I decided to ignore this nonsense and enjoy my meal which was worth the wait and drama. Why?? Why would I be treated like this in a commercial enterprise in Canada? The server had been quite polite and friendly until this happened and served me but with no warmth or hospitality for the rest...
Read moreI ordered takeout yesterday, Dec. 6. I placed my order and just after few seconds, I called to cancel one order. I was told I could not cancel the order as it had already been submitted. I advised that this was the first that I was hearing where you cannot cancel an ordered item which was placed seconds ago. Finally, they gave in.
I went to pick the order after work. The entrance was unkempt, main door glass was stained all over and it looked dirty so the entrance did not create a good impression. Interior was lavishly decorated.
I had ordered Kadappa rice, chilli chick and chilli paneer. For these three items, I paid $54 and some change. When I reached home and opened the bag, I was thoroughly disappointed. The servings did not justify the price. The rice was enough for two, the chicken and paneer came in smaller containers and the hot sauce that they claimed was in the bag was like a tablespoon of it. The food was not overly delicious but it was passable. I would think twice about going again. I went on recommendation of a colleague and my experience was disappointing. Perhaps other people have been...
Read moreALWAYS CHECK THE QUANTITY I want to share a frustrating experience I had with Shaaz Markham recently. I ordered a 5 kg bucket of biryani, and they told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. When I got there to pick it up, they served it in trays instead and gave me only 3 kg of biryani.
When I got home, I noticed I didnât receive the right amount, so I called the restaurant to ask about it. They apologized and said they forgot to give me the second tray. They asked me to come back, promising it would be ready in 10 minutes. I went back and got the next tray, but they only gave me 1.5 kg instead of the 2 kg I was supposed to get.
Frustrated, I returned with a scale to show them the weights. One employee mentioned that no one had ever complained about this before and that everyone trusted them. But I felt it was unfair; I didnât want to lose the 2 kg of food I already paid for.
When I opened the food, I found that the first tray contained mostly chicken, while the rest was just rice. It felt like they cheated me in this whole process, and it was a very disappointing experience. Thank you for creating...
