This is a no-frills takeout joint that takes cash only. The workers are Cantonese speaking (not sure if they speak much English). There are no seats other than a few chairs/tables throughout the plaza.
Most customers order in advance for pickup. I didn’t realize this so ordered on the spot and waited about 30 mins.
Was having a sashimi craving, so I ordered the small sashimi party tray (41 pieces) for two people. This was a lot of raw fish for two, so in retrospect, I should’ve ordered a mix of sashimi and sushi, but that’s on me. The party tray (which also comes in medium and large sizes for bigger groups) had really good variety - only complaint possible would be a bit too much salmon. Also note the platter includes ebi sashimi as it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
The website mentions that the fish is imported straight from Japan, and ordering at least 1 day on advance will give you 5% off.
The store is a small location with 2-3 workers slicing away continuously. As such, I was a bit worried about food safety, especially as a few of the sashimi pieces tasted extra fishy. Ultimately though we were totally fine.
Would definitely order again...
Read moreLocated inside Langham Place, a floor above T&T supermarket. There is a little sashimi and sushi take out place called Toyosu Markham. It is runned by Chinese, but they are special fish and clams from Japan. Ordered medium sashimi platter, extra pound of salmon sashimi thick cut and some a la cart sushi including blue fin tuna sushi, negi-toro sushi, and scallop pressed sushi. All the sashimi in the platter are very fresh and well worth $53 for sure. The extra pound of salmon sashimi are the thickest cut I ever see. Definitely $22 a pound is not expensive at all. Both the blue fin tuna sushi and negi-toro sushi are very nice and a very good deal. A bit downside is the scallop pressed sushi is not pressed hard enough, so the rice fall apart easily. This place immediately become my top take out sushi and sashimi place. Wonderful deal for...
Read moreWe ordered a 60 pcs plater at 85$. I called them on Saturday at noon. Most of the items were sold out. I placed an order for 8pm since that is their closing hour, but they said they were closing at 7 pm since everything sold out pretty fast on that day. I got there at 6h30 around. My tray was already done. I was disappointed once I had my fist bite. The tempura in the roll was soggy. The cuts of the sashimi were too thick, in my opinion. 60 pcs, and they only gave 3 soya sauce. I read a lot of reviews mentioned how you need to place an order in advice. I feel like they had prepared my plater a lot in advice, then the usually pick-up time, that's why my sushis were soggy and the fish were not as fresh as I would like. The good side is the variety of fish they put in a normal party tray compared to Montreal...
