I love Hong Kong-style egg waffles and I wanted to find an authentic one in the GTA where it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Sounds simple, right? But many places get this so wrong, especially how the exterior is just hot and not crispy. At Toast Delight, not only are they correct on the taste and texture, but they took a simple HK street food to a whole new level with creative toppings like pizza and macaroni & cheese on top of these egg waffles! If you want to get fancy, they even have escargot or unagi as a topping!! Before I even got to taste their original flavor egg waffles, I was too amazed by their creativity that I took the jump and ordered THREE different pizza-style egg waffles! As you can see in the attached pics, I ordered the Meat Lovers, Hawaiian, and the Mac & Cheese. All tasted so heavenly delicious! They even come in pizza boxes too (hahaha too cool)!! But if I have to rank them, I'll say the Mac & Cheese is the best from the three I've tasted so far (cheesy but not overwhelming); the Hawaiian would be placed second (that pineapple gave a nice sweet balanced taste to the salty ham); and Meat Lovers third (but being third does not mean it doesn't taste good too!).
Some reviewers mentioned there's a long wait and deducted a star for it, but with today's age of technology that have spoiled people where everyone wants everything immediately, some have forgotten that patience is a virtue. This shop appears to be owned by an older couple, so please be patient with your order. Considering egg waffles tasting this good and with a large creative menu to choose from, this experience would definitely be worth the wait! Looking forward to trying their other...
Read moreHad a hard time finding it. It's actually in the mall on the second floor. Basically enter near the T&T and take the elevator up (escalator was out of order) and turn right. It's right across the little succulent plant shop.
i have to split this one up but tldr; was delcious. Recommend the cheese pepperoni pizza egglette and the oreo rolled thai ice cream. Much better than a lot of other places. Little pricey, and a bit of a wait time (only 2 people working) but definitely worth for the taste. It's located in a small mom and pop shop and the owners are so sweet. I have pics of the menu attached.
As for the taste, oh gosh it exceeded expectations. Had a lot of different egglettes in the past but these were pretty dang good. Lots of unqiue flavours. Had the pepperoni cheese pizza one I've been seeing in other reviews. Was really cute, like an acutal mini pizza. Even came in its own small pizza box. Real cheese too (unlike some other asian places). 5/5
Also had the milk tea egglettes. Smelled and tasted like a warm cookie-muffin out of the oven. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. 4/5
Thai rolled ice cream: it was perfect. Super creamy and firm. Packed it away in a cold box for mothers day to bring my mom at work. She loved it. Had the oreo and milk tea flavour. Both were delicious but I actually prefer the oreo. 5/5
Will definitely come back to try...
Read moreThis dessert place is tucked in a little corner up the escalator, above the T&T grocery store. Its run by a very kind grandma and grandpa who were very welcoming and consistently had a smile on their face.
Luckily on my visit, there wasn't that much of a line, it was only until afterwards that the line starting building, which just goes to show the popularity of the storefront.
Overall, there was a lot of choices of egg waffles, ice cream and even Thai rolled ice cream. Not to mention that you could even combine them as well. My girlfriend and I got the Ube Egg waffle and the Strawberry Thai ice cream. Personally for me I really loved the waffle, it was just the way I like it, crunchy (but not too crunchy) and fluffy in the inside. Far too many times I would have egg waffles that were soft all over or way to crunchy like I was eating chips.
The Ube waffle in combination with the Thai ice cream paired very well together. I would want to come back and try their other flavors especially if I'm...
