I would like to comment on the food but did not get the opportunity to do so. I'm typically a patient person, and know how hard it is in the service industry to keep everyone happy, so please know that I'm not doing this out of pettiness. I was driving up to North Bay for a weekly excursion, and decided this time to stop here for Breakfast. I let 4 gentlemen in ahead of me as I walked in. I seated myself as directed by the sign. It was obvious that the Server knew the guys who walked in. Chatted quickly with them, got them their coffees, then took their order. The server then walked away, came back in, cleaned off a table. (The only dirty table in the place) She then stayed behind the counter talking to the 4 guys (There were two other customers - 1 at the counter. 1 at a table close to me.) At this point I tried getting her attention to which I got a couple of sideways glances. There was another Server, but she seemed to be working the front place. It was obvious that I was being ignored. So I got up, said my goodbyes. Most bizarre place I've...
Read moreWe were on a road trip and I was sick of fast food. We stopped in here instead. The building itself is a bit run down, and the bathroom is a little rough, but don't let any of that fool you: this is a proper restaurant where they still know how to use real food to make you an actual meal. I had a cheeseburger, and the patti was homemade from scratch that very day - and you could tell. It was easily twice as good as a burger i paid twice as much for down in the city last week. My partner had the pizza, and that too left nothing to complain about. The dough was just right, the toppings were fresh, the sauce was tasty, and it was cooked the perfect amount - not too much, not too little. I can't remember the last time i had to drive through Mattawa, and i don't know when i'll do it again, but when i do i will be sure to stop back here. As the bumper sticker says, fastfood might be easier, but why not have a real...

Myrt's is undoubtedly a "local family restaurant" where everything is fine and if you live there you'd grow nostalgic for the flavors, but overall they have their hits and misses. They nail their staples and flop on the in-between items.
Burger was good, onion rings solid. Fries unimpressive. Their panzerotti was a 50/50 in itself. They went through the trouble of folding their own dough and spreading it with a garlic butter and that was great! But then the meat inside was unseasoned/bland and the sauce tasted like cheap watery canned tomato sauce.
Totally fine place to grab a bite but you aren't likely...
