Mainstreet Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Merrickville-Wolford

I have been contemplating writing this review for a almost a week now. Our server was fantastic, friendly, fast, and in no way does this review pertain to her. I will start with the food was terrible, way over priced, and the way it was cooked disgusting, definitely had me thinking about cross contamination. FOOD. We ordered the Mainstreet platter $27.00 consisting of 2 chicken fingers, less that a handful of fries, even less onion rings, 4 zucchini sticks, 3 mozzarella sticks, 2 potato skins and 3 dips. The food that I had, tasted the same, but okay. Two people sharing the platter was stated and assured it was plenty for two. What bothered me was the food was all stuck together. The only way that could happen is if it was cooked together. If that is a normal cooking method then I have never had that experience before. We also ordered the kids Hamburger meal, $11.00. I was surprised my nephew was not eating as he loves his burgers. I jokingly told him I was going to eat his other half if he did start eating. I took a bite and spit it out. It was horrible, there is now way it was an all beef patty. I am not sure what kind of meat it was, something kind of greyish, maybe pork? My mom tried the burger thinking I was overreacting, nope, she agreed with me, disgusting. She would not even take it home to feed her dog. There were more fries with the kids plater than on ours. The fries were delicious and so was the side gravy. We also had a kids chocolate milk and two fountain Ice-teas. The glasses were full of ice and at our request, was 1/4 water 3/4 ice tea. The 2 Ice teas were $9.00 and we did not get asked if refills were wanted😳. The bill came to around $60.00, unfortunately I did not keep the receipt, wish I had. I know there were some other charges. It may have been for the chocolate milk, there was $2.00 extra charge for the cheese on his burger(not informed of this) and $1.00 for the side gravy, but as for food, that is all we ordered. I will say the place was extremely busy with seniors coming to Merrickville on a few bus at the same time. I did take that into consideration as the cleanliness of tables and such. I also believe there was only one waitress working at the time and she was running. Unfortunately there were a lot of flies and bees on the patio, no fault to the restaurant, but did cause a nuisance with one dinner getting stung. Our experience left us with no desire to return, way overpriced and the cooking practices left me uneasy. I wish I had taken photos, but I forgot my phone in the car. The restaurant is decorated nicely and has a cozy...

Well, we came in for lunch during Merrickville Fair. There was an older man singing kereoke on the patio and I was a little surprised to see a door leading to a smoking lounge(?) this area was basically a door separated both outdoor spaces and the smoke billowed into the patio eating area. Gross. We ordered a drink and our food. Warm Spinach dip as a started. Salad, wrap and sandwich as our mains.

This was lunchtime. It was not very busy. Our drinks took 10 minutes to come out The appy came out cold and gelatinous cheese on top 45 minutes later 4 tables came in after us, ordered got their food and some preparing to leave. Finally after an hour, I went to find out what was happening. The servers were laughing it up behind the bar. When I asked why I’ve been waiting an hour and 3 tables came in after me are already done. She replied it’s because we ordered an appt. I replied no, an hour has passed and our table is piled up with empty glasses and a plate of gross cold spinach dip and we only ordered a lunch service??!! She replied she would check and went to kitchen. To never return. I went to my table and after another 8 minute discussion with my group we proceeded inside. My husband offered to pay for the drinks. I interrupted and told the “manager” I was inclined to just leave as this experience is atrocious! She comped our drinks. A beer a Cesar. As we left she commented sorry the food takes a while to come out. I turned to reiterate to her what we ordered, and the length of time there along with the other tables that did get service!!! She apologized. And as I left a10 people waiting to be seated also left with us. Do Better. Everything from the smoky patio, live music that is simply an old guy singing kereoke to the terrible food and worst service I’ve ever...

Went to this restaurant today with a group of 5 people. We were seated quickly as it wasn’t busy. The waitress took our drink orders and food orders at the same time as we were ready to order. Drinks and food arrived to the table within a reasonable time…and that was pretty much where the customer service ended. The waitress never came to check on us or to ask if we needed anything. When she came to clear the plates when we were done, we asked what they had for dessert as she didn’t ask us Whether we wanted dessert or anything else. She said they had pie and carrot cake, but she seemed unsure of this, based on the fact that she rattled off the two things and then said “yeah, that’s it”. We ordered a slice of pie and a slice of carrot cake to share, and asked for 4 plates. No problem there. She brought the deserts, extra plates and forks and NO NAPKINS. I had to take a Kleenex from my bag so one person could wipe their mouth. When she came to clear the dessert dishes away, one person asked for a napkin to wipe her fingers. She said she would bring it. She brought only the bills, handed them to me and left. TERRIBLE SERIVCE. The next time we saw her was when she stopped by briefly to ask if we needed change as we were getting up to leave. No “thank you “…nothing. Again, TERRIBLE SERVICE. We did leave tips, but would never return to...
