Jay's Diner — Restaurant in Midland

Weirdest food experience ever! Unfortunately never got to try the food. After asking for a couple substitutions on my burger I was told by the guy on the grill that the burgers come how they come and he wants to keep it that way. He said one time only he would let me substitute the Swiss cheese for cheddar but nothing else. I told him I thought that was a weird policy to have at a diner and he then got visibly irritated and became very passive aggressive in his responses to me. At that point I felt very uncomfortable and decided to take my business elsewhere. I’ve never had an experience like that in a restaurant ever! He must have been having a really bad day, hopefully things got better for him, man...

Went to Jay's Diner it was absolutely fantastic! We were luckily between rushes, we got our food decently fast but long enough that you know it was freshly made. Right after we sat down there was a huge rush! It could be busy when you go, just FYI! The decor is so clean and fresh, the staff is so kind and personable, the food is PHENOMENAL! I had the mushroom burger and poutine and I can say with confidence it's the best poutine in town! REAL cheese curds, definitely squeaky cheese looked like from Quebec, imo it was absolutely perfect! Enjoyed a perfectly cooked cheese burger and small poutine. It was delicious and filling. I was surprised and pleased to see Jay working behind the counter. He was welcoming, friendly, and polite. The place looked clean and bright and made you feel at home. They're still working to get take out menus printed, but they do have the big electronic sign with the menu on it.
