I've never left a review after a meal before and I hate to do this but I must. After reviewing all the amazing reviews I decided to check out son of a jerk myself. I must say, if you are looking for authentic Caribbean food, this is not the place. There is also a big issue with the preparation of the food. I ordered the rice and peas with jerk chicken. The food tasted off to me (mainly the rice and peas so not sure if it was properly handled after cooking), but I figured it was because it's not authentically made so this was their version of Caribbean dishes. The jerk chicken was definitely not seasoned well but it was moist. I ended up tossing most of the food away. A few hrs later I suffered from the bit that I ate with a severe upset stomach 🤮 (hence the reason for leaving this review). My son had the fried chicken and complained of it being too salty which is something he never complains about. He didnsay that the mac and cheese was okay. This food was definitely not enjoyable for me and I would not recommend this place to my fellow Caribbeans.
Came back to see if I'd be offered a refund fir my wasted food but instead received an ear full 🤣🤣🤣 Sir or ma'am all the best with your business. I'm here for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Just had to be honest with my review of food purchased from Son of a jerk (receipt...
Read moreIts alright, doesnt taste authentic. But Milton has so few choices.
Large jerk meal, 27$. Too expensive in my opinion when you consider all other establishments in Brampton and Mississauga charge sub 20$ prices for the same portions.
Rice and peas was very mushy, cooked with too much water. Had flavour, but the texture was terrible.
Came with a piece of macaroni pie which i didnt really care for.
Coleslaw very sour and waterery. The green colour doesnt look natural either.. i couldnt keep eating it. I couldnt taste or tell if it was cabbage or lettuce.
The chicken was the most disappointing. Its boneless, which is wrong in the first place, you need the bone for flavour. Its BAKED, not smoked/grilled, which in itself does not even classify it as Jerk. The jerk flavour tastes exactly the same as the grace bottle stuff i can get at any supermarket and quite salty. If that seems harsh, I encourage anyone to try a place like Bakers jerk, Jamaica jerk house, Willies jerk, Portland jerk... i can go on, but you will taste the difference yourself.
I give every jerk place a chance, and I've tried many in the GTA. I think this spot is more catered to Canadian/Poutine type pallets.
EDIT: 3 to 1 star for the condescending ESSAY from the owner. Should spend more time finding a recipe for authentic chicken. Trust me folks, their...
Read moreSon of a Jerk in Milton truly impressed me with their outstanding food and exceptional service! I ordered the Son of a Jerk Feast, Jerk Chicken Sandwich, and hand-cut fries, and every bite was absolutely delicious.
Firstly, the food quality was top-notch. The Jerk Chicken Feast was flavorful and tender, perfectly seasoned with a blend of spices that made each bite a delight. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich was a savory treat, with juicy chicken and a delectable sauce. The hand-cut fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the ideal side to complete the meal.
Not only was the food exceptional, but the portion sizes were generous as well. Each order was satisfyingly filling without compromising on taste or quality.
Marianna and Daniel at Son of a Jerk deserves special commendation. They were friendly, attentive, and passionate about their food. Daniel provided excellent recommendations and ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was enjoyable. Their enthusiasm and dedication truly enhanced our visit.
Overall, Son of a Jerk in Milton is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates flavorful Caribbean cuisine served with a smile. Whether you're ordering their signature dishes or exploring their menu for the first time, you're in for a treat. I can't wait to return and indulge in more of their...
