Great half day family activity.
It was lacking a few things to entertain younger kids, but as I understand it might be due to COVID restrictions, so I'd feel bad knocking a star off for that.
The animals were great. The costumes were impressive. We love to see the horse and wagons go up and down the road frequently. It really added life and ambiance to the location.
I would have liked to see more acted scenes between characters, and for it to be integrated into some kind of daily flyer we get at the start.
For example: ( 2PM, at the Print Shop: the priest is upset that the shop printed flyers for the other church.
... then you attend and see a short piece of interaction between characters, and help convey more info and give some basic clue as to what a visitor can ask the characters.
3PM: The peddler will annouce his new novelty items in front of the general store. (Pro tip: he pitches things you can actually buy (candy, etc))
Etc... )
You could change them every month or so.
Doing so would have probably made us stay for the full day, and would add a ton of ambiance to the venue, and give a reason to attend multiple times a summer.
The coronation was OK, but honnestly not that entertaining (even boring for young kids) and required a ton of actors.
Even the flyer for the coronation was not very clear as to where and when the even was to happen. (Really nice looking flyer, but missing key info)
I forgot his name but the singer with a guitare walking around was absolutely fantastic. Awesome interactions, really added to the athmosphere. Give him a raise.
Last, some actors, but not all, are bilingual. It would be extremely helpful if there was somekind of indication they are french speaking. I'm not saying they should wear a "Je parle francais" badge, which would break their costume. But maybe you could think of a detail that would fit the costumes and be easy to spot for us... and just put on the map that actors with XYZ on them do speak french.
Anyway, good job to everyone involved, we would love to get a season pass if there was a better "replay value" proposition or more...
Read moreThe Kingsway Restaurant has been a Miramichi staple for many years; it was one of the 'family style' that boasted REGULAR customers who looked forward to ( at least ) a weekly meal at the establishment. While in the Newcastle area recently, my husband and I did not hesitate to select the Kingsway as our stop for dinner. We had eaten there numerous times and were always pleased with the selection, the prices, the service and the tasty food.
I am dismayed to report that our latest visit will, most likely, be our last. Although the service and selection were as we expected; the prices had increased and the food was horrible. We ordered fish & chips; while the fries were cold and undercooked; the fish was OVERCOOKED. The two tiny, tiny pieces we received were dried out/the batter was hard and crunchy. Very...
Read moreInsanely good prices for such big portions, best breakfast in town I've had so far that's for sure.
Only 4 stars on service since I did sort of get forgotten for drink refills at supper the first time and breakfast the second time I was here when things got busy, but it was a packed house and otherwise perfect visits so I'm definitely going to be back often.
Not usually what I comment on but the washroom was immaculate both times, which is great for types like me that normally hate public bathrooms.
Update: Came in with the kids; I had the lobster club, my fiance had the hot beef poutine and the kids had fish & chips and a pogo. None of our meals could have been made better, they were all perfect, and again the portions were huge with affordable pricing. Best restaurant in...
