I have been to this Firehouse Subs a few times and want to share my thoughts and also constructive criticism for this business starting on its Western Canada expansion.
First off, the wait times are too long from time of order to when the order is ready (take-out or dine-in). The past two times I have been, it has been an around 18-20 minutes to complete an order of one sub. On one of my recent trips I noticed that they were portioning the meat (by weight) for each order as they came in. My order was placed ~11:40AM, this tells me that not enough, if any, prep was done to pre-portion.
On both of my two recent orders, there have been no large buns available for subs. Which is fine as they are getting adjusted to the demand of a new province, however, on my last order I was not told that there was also no white bread left and after ordering a medium sub, I got home to notice that it is grain/wheat and not white bread. If I was told in advance there was no white bread (large or medium) I would not have ordered at the time.
I have experience with this franchise before in Eastern Canada and remember during the first few weeks of a grand opening, order times were around 5-8 minutes. I am not sure whether this location is owned by a franchisee or corporate, regardless I feel that this location needs a little bit more...
Read moreUPDATE As soon as I wrote this review, I was contacted directly by corporate. They apologized, stating they would have the store manager contact me to discuss the matter further. Fast forward a week. Corporate contacts me again, asking if the store manager of this location had reached out. I stated that no one had reached out. I was told customer satisfaction is their number one goal and it was completely unacceptable that no one had reached out after they had stated 2 separate times to this location manager to reach out & were going to reach out again. Still nothing! Clearly, they decide which customers are important enough to resolve issues with. Not that I need an issue resolved, but being able to just acknowledge what had happened would have been nice
Just tried the meatball sub & did not enjoy the meatballs at all. They use what tastes like sausage for their meatballs & we did not like the flavor at all. The marinara sauce was all over the outside containers but very little inside sub. Ends of bun were also hard. We were given no bag or napkins either. I certainly would not have handed my customer the containers looking like that. Yuk!
Love the Engineers & Canadian subs tho, they are delicious. Will not eat these meatball ones...
Read moreIt was just, okay. Very basic. First time here, last time here. It is possible that the other franchises offer better. I'm not willing to go find out. Most definitely not worth the cost.
Approximately $33.00 for one 8-in Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket (deli roast beef with some cheddar cheese on a Italian bun with barbecue sauce) and one 12-in Steak and Cheese with caramelized onion and green pepper (deli roast beef with some cheese, onion and green pepper on an Italian bun).
If I'm going to spend that kind of money I'm getting the French Dip at Brown's Social House.
And no, I don't work at or know anybody who owns Brown's Social House.
Edit: person who ate the 12-in steak and cheese said he got the "runs" from it.
Update: Thank you for your response. That would be great if you did follow through and looked into the matter as the meal seems to have affected me the same way this morning—stomach pain and "toilet visits".
I won't risk eating here again, but others will, so looking into it is best for all. I will not try another location, though it tasted okay (just), it wasn't...
