I had the worst customer experience of my life at this location. I went in yesterday to purchase a gift card as a thank you for someone. I arrived around 5:15. By time I left it was close to 6:15.
I attempted to make friendly chit chat with the only employee working (he identified himself as Lingyun Yang, store manager when I later requested information). The employee was wearing a "Scoops Ahoy" t-shirt, so attempting to be friendly I said I liked his t-shirt. I then asked him if this location had hosted a promo tie-in event for Stranger Things (Scoops Ahoy is an ice cream parlour featured in their recent season on Netflix, and I assumed one of the promo events was hosted at this location). His response to me was "I don't know. It doesn't matter." I thought this was weird and proceeded to order a $40 giftcard.
The employee handed me the activated giftcard which I then saw was very clearly a used re-loaded card. It was scratched and dirty.
I explained that I was purchasing this card as a gift, and asked if he would transfer the balance on to a brand new card as I was not happy with the look of this card.
The employee told me I was being unreasonable, the card was "perfect" and kept saying he was not able to transfer a balance. He said "I cannot use a giftcard to purchase another giftcard" and I clarified that I was simply asking for a balance transfer. I have also worked retail before and frequently sold giftcards, so in my experience this was absolutely a simple task.
The employee kept making comments to me about how this was impossible, "why do you have to be like this?", "do you really want to go through all of this?" etc. and telling me the card was fine as-is. I told him that I did not agree, and that was his opinion. I told him he should have indicated to me that he was re-loading a used card before charging me at which point I could have requested a different card.
My partner took offense to his rude attitude and requested that the employee give us a refund as he no longer wished to spend $40 at this location. The employee noted that store policy indicates he cannot refund a giftcard.
My partner then asked if we purchased $40 worth of product, and then return that product immediately, could the employee put the return on to a NEW unused giftcard.
The employee responded by saying "I can do that, but why do you want to go through all of this? Do you really have to be so difficult? Why do you have to be like this?"
When I requested to go ahead to purchase/return $40 worth of any product, the employee refused this as well. He insisted he 'never said he could do that' and said he would not. I was flabbergasted and asked "What are you talking about? You just agreed that it was possible!" and which time the employee raised his voice and said "YOU ARE CALLING ME STUPID!"
I unfortunately cannot post my entire review due to character limits. I was in touch with customer service who were shocked at the situation, spoke to this employee on speaker phone and he continued to refuse to rectify the situation.
Customer service offered to complete the transfer for me over the phone. I am currently pending their call to complete this.
Other customers who came in to the store during this actually left without purchasing anything as they agreed this behaviour was unacceptable.
I would be embarrassed to have this employee represent my franchise or my brand. I can see from other reviews that this employee is regularly rude and unwelcoming to people who are spending their money here. His behaviour is unacceptable and I certainly will never return to this location after this experience. The fact that multiple other people have had such poor experiences with this one employee makes me question the owner/franchise team and why they have not done anything to address his pattern of behavior. "What do you want" When we asked what ice cream is Gluten Free (Both my 5 year old and husband have Celiac), his response was "check the labels". 5 year old and teenage daughter pointed at the ice cream they wanted, the RUDE man said "Do we have a problem?", almost like he was trying to start a fight with my kids. My husband asked for a strawberry milkshake, when the woman started making it, the RUDE man started yelling at her in there language for a good 3 minutes solid before she could finish. The RUDE man checked us out then threw the receipt at my husband and told us to get out. As soon as we walked out of the store we were approached by another customer (Mother and Son). I tried to go online but was unsuccessful as there are only certain items which can be delivered and NONE of them are available. Not one! I checked several stores and got the same result.
