I have the fortune of living just a few blocks away from Bombay Bhel at Hurontario and Eglinton. This is by far the best Indian food I have ever had in my life. It blows the competition away by far. My favourite, their butter chicken is SO good that I order a side of butter chicken sauce to add to the main order. It's like drinking liquid gold. If you're sensitive to spice I recommend the korma. If you love spice I recommend the vindaloo.
Or you can try my favourite, the lamb korma. It's Ontario lamb and just falls apart in your mouth. With a really rich, creamy, nutty flavour. You've never had korma like this. And probably the most balanced curry would be my favourite, the chicken tikki masala. Spice, peppers, chicken, onions, thick, creamy tomato sauce that you'll remember for days after. You'll dream about it. You literally feel guilty eating it too fast. On a side note, the staff is always very friendly and I am always greeted with a warm welcome, for all you nervous ppl looking to try something new.
When I converse with Indians and we get talking about food, I tell them that I have a good spot that I go to. Once they're done snickering at my blatant whiteness, I share the name "Bombay Bhel" and right away they gasp in humility and immediately validate me with something along the lines of "yes, actually Bombay Bhel is very, very good." Thus Bombay Bhel has given me indian street cred. My membership card is in the mail.
My favourite thing to do is have a bunch of friends over for dinner and a movie and call in a pick up order of a ridiculous amount of curries and sauces and their LEGIT freshly made to order naan. (if you don't try their naan, I can't trust you). I think the owner should write a book on their food and call it "i am masala" and I bet it would out sell "i am malala".
Even if you're dining for one, every curry order comes with the option of rice or naan. not like some places which charge you separately for the side. And averages about $13-15. And with very generous portion size. For my Celiac brothers and sisters, the stuff is not labelled GF so it's at your own risk. But I have never gotten sick. However I am not a very sensitive Celiac. But they do claim that there is no wheat thickener used and for how many times I've dined on their food, I believe them.
A good wine to pair with a spicy curry would be something sweet and acidic like a Riesling or Oaky Chardonnay. Or a Gewürztraminer if you'd rather something more fruity and fragrant. Or for a non-alcoholic option I recommend Mango Nectar or they do sell a drink called "Lasi" or something like that. That goes really well with the curries as well. This is definitely one place you need to check off your bucket list, you...

Bombay Bhel, I have overlooked this place so many times when I visited this plaza at CIBC bank, or the Service Canada or Shoppers Drug Mart.
But yesterday, it was a treat from our good friend which got us to this place. The first impression which we got after seeing the menu at home was "Damn" this place looks costly. But, wait for it, IT is WORTH IT!
The ambience was bang on, desi as I call it. Being a Saturday night it was jam packed and we had to wait to get a table ! Not accustomed to this on our visits to eating places. The setup is beautiful. It looks straight out of the book of a classic fine and dine you would get at a decent 4 star above hotel. It's classy. I forgot to mention, they had ceiling fans installed, i forgot to click pics, but it's a rare sighting in Canada !
Service - Well I write my reviews considering the business's point of view as well, so I understand there will be lead time if you have a fully booked hotel. So we had to wait for the seats, wait a bit longer for food as well so 1 star less in service. The waiters were good, they asked us and checked on feedback proactively.
Food - The pics and words cannot describe the beauty of the delicious taste we experienced ! It was like experiencing Nirvana. The Butter Chichen thali was delicious and fulfilling for me and my wife. We have a less appetite for the quantity of food, so you might order one per person if you eat more that's up to you.
Save up some money and do try this place if you are craving proper desi khana !
I would definitely recommend and revisit here. Lovely...
Read moreBB Lounge Restaurant (Bombay Bhel), Indian Restaurant, not a vegetarian place. I usually do not go to restaurants that serve non-vegetarian food. It was by chance one late evening I was on a walk and entered the place just to check the menu. Please note this is a proper, professional fine dine location and full meal may cost you more than in other locations. I did not try their main course therefore no comments on this. 5 Stars overall from my side 5 Stars for ambience, decoration, and furniture etc. You will really like the statues and other ethnic stuff that will remind you of India (Bharat). 5 Stars for location and accessibility, ample parking available and it is right next to Service Ontario. 5 Stars for service and server. The guy who attended us was professional, unlike other fine dine restaurants, where they hire students or no proper training is done. 5 Stars for food quality, quantity, and taste (Chaat-Gol Gappe and Papari Chat) 5 Stars for cleanliness and hygiene. Everything was neat and tidy. I opted for chat assuming it cannot be contaminated with meat or other stuff. Ordered Gol Gappe and Papari Chaat. If I remember clearly there were 8pcs of Gol Gappe and were for about 8CAD, where is a common price for it everywhere. The taste was really good, authentic flavor that made me crave for more. Papri Chaat was nice too. Tamarind Chutney was fresh and without any adulteration, that’s what I...
