When you decide to go for nice dinner on a weekend, you notice many things that makes your day. For me and my friends; the basic expectation was not met by Mississauga location of Sarvana Bhavan. First, social distancing was not an important factor here while waiting to be seated. I understand sometimes guests are inconsiderate, but as a service facility, management or staff were also ignorant. Second, The lady who took our order was friendly and informative, but once the order was taken there started all the issues where whosoever served us were very insensitive, non-concerned and ignorant. Third, as we placed the order, food arrived. 14 coin idlis and Mehdu vada. For both, the “sambhar” was refrigerator cold. Upon informing the staff, they agreed to replace it with hot sambhar. Which took 25 minutes and our friends who got their dishes, finished half their meal. Fourth, Sambhar was tasteless. Being a franchise, Sambhar and food quality all together not even close to their Scarborough branch. I would never refer this branch to anyone in my circle. Fifth, the ambiance was ok. We were not served water until we asked for when we finished our meals. On top of that, when we asked for water, the lady who took the order did not even care to provide glasses. Upon asking for glasses, we were given 2 glasses between 4 people. Not that the lady who gave us glasses, did not realize that she gave 2 glasses only, but she choose to not give 2 more. Sixth, we ordered mango lassi, upon asking for 3 times we were given our mango lassi that too the sever was not happy serving it. Not sure why, when we will be paying for it, duh… Seventh, when the idli and Sambhar was served hot on asked for, there was another green chutney ( pic 2) which was not served originally (pic 1) so I am not sure what is their standard of serving a dish that once can expect. Eighth, there were review slips in the restaurant, but no staff was concerned about their service or the food. As an update from my last review: management did respond to contact them, but they never responded. Disappointing. I highly recommend to visit Scarborough branch. It was my third visit there and always a great one!

I am coming from chennai and visited here with high expectations. Visited saravana bavan together with wife & kid. Ordered channa bhatura, onion rava kara masala dosa & veg kothu porata with gobi manchrian and soup recommended by staff.. Chettinadu soup was pretty good, and gobi manchurian is good.. However, when it comes to main items, we are disappointed with tastes and flavor. - Channa bhatura came with chick pea curry as expected, however curry was bland, its tastes like soup.. - Onion rava kara masala dosa, supposed to be you have spread karam (red chilli paste) on top of dosa as whole and keep potato masala inside.. However it came with two versions of stuffing, potato used for masala dosa and brown coloured masala. If you are coming from Andra, have less expectations on kara dosa.. Since its not usual kara dosa you get in South india. - Veg kothu parota, parota cut into big pieces and added with veggies and some kind of sause. Also it doesn't have any spicyness at all.. After having two bytes I requested staff to make it spicier, she consulted with supervisor and mentioned this is regular spicy level.. Again its not kothu parota you get in south india.. Overall, this could satisfy people coming from North india, or western people.. If you are from TN or AP, have less expectations on flavour.. Suggestions for management: Since you are preparing food on order, check with customers on their spicy levels and prepare food. Also please keep dosa varieties closer to region food...

Enquired on phone for reservations, no such facilities. Heard a lot about this place in India, so thought to try out here too. Being weekends, on reaching waiting time of 30 minutes or more. Couldn’t approve so cancelled here and moved to another restaurant in same vicinity as many options available. Even after our completing the dinner at adjoining nearby restaurant, we rechecked again and still in waiting. So better go on weekdays or when waiting time doesn’t bother you. Enjoy your turn. On 22/1, took one more chance and due to snowfall, got table with a minimum wait of 15 minutes. Food experience, though claims to be an international chain, was normal alike any other good restaurants but nothing that sets it apart or distinguishable. As an family group of ten, tried varieties from thali to South Indian delicacies. Fried idli seemed like as if refried and thali was as if pre prepared. Though food was good but seems a much hyped restaurant catering to masses. Please remove signboards displays inside warning customers not to take more than 45 minutes! Seriously if you can’t manage your resources, don’t pass on the buck to your customers 😀. So visit to have South Indian food alike a good restaurant but not with an fine dining experience. Try your turn.

Couple of things to write about there place nothing odd just plain and simple South Indian food joint.first nice thing about place was tag and food. Order was served quickly and just made spicy to the level we asked for which is hard to match. Short and crisp menu good options to pick from. The interior need a bit of touch to make it more bright and lively. It’s usually not seen but this place and kitchen entrance opposite hand wash vanity which in a way kitchen transparent. Now this is good and bad at same time since it’s transparent it’s easy to spot on hygiene and kitchen custom for me I didn’t see any issues ,I felt it nice and clean but could be a thing for other customer. Just an idea ...reorientation of seating plan and entrance can bump up sales and will make easy to entertain more customer at any given time. Didn’t look up on web presence so can’t comment m sure they have things in place. I have been only once that too around peak hour still management was able to accommodate us and getting sitting in no time.parking around the lot is bit of challenge or u got to park in other lot, next to this one and walk few metres to get in. I enjoyed food was good and staff been nice. I can certainly go to this place time and again.

Came here on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately the service makes for a poor dining experience. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 dosas. 1 appetizer and dosa came quickly however the dosa was a bit cold, it seemed like it might have been sitting in the back for a while. The rest of the meal didn’t come For over 15 -20 minutes. So one person was done eating and the other person was left waiting for their food. We also had a nut allergy and mentioned this several times, my butter masala dosa had a piece of cashew in it which we didn’t see until the end. Luckily, its not a life threatening allergy however if you have family members or children with allergies, please be careful. The restaurant does not take allergies seriously. It would also be helpful to mark which items have nuts for example you wouldn’t exactly expect nuts in the pav Bhaji but the server told us it had nuts when we specifically asked. The food for the most part was pretty good. Unfortunately the service left a lot of room for improvement. Not sure if I would return or recommend to others based on the dining experience.

Review for Saravanaa Bhavan, 4559 Hurontario St #12B, Mississauga, ON L4Z 3L9 Saravanaa Bhavan is a cornerstone for authentic South Indian vegetarian cuisine in Mississauga. The restaurant consistently delivers on the flavors and quality associated with its global reputation. Known for its wide variety of dosas, idlis, vadas, and thalis, the menu offers something for everyone craving traditional South Indian food. The ambiance is simple but welcoming, with a focus on delivering a cultural dining experience. Service is generally attentive, though peak hours can sometimes lead to longer wait times—testament to its popularity. Unfortunately, the location is currently temporarily closed for renovations, leaving many regulars eagerly awaiting its reopening. While it’s disappointing not to have access right now, the closure hints at potential improvements that could elevate the experience further. We hope the renovations bring fresh updates while maintaining the classic taste and charm Saravanaa Bhavan is known for. Can’t wait to visit again once the doors reopen!
