They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day but if you have breakfast at this Coras location, you will wish this was the last meal you ever ate. If not, the "assistant" manager Loni will make sure she will go "above and beyond" to provide that experience.
This restaurant is so poorly managed I didn't even want to post this review from a burner account because I want them to read this along with everyone else. The server at this location accidentally spilled orange juice on my guests (no harm done, accidents happen) and we got reseated. I asked the assistant manager Loni to cover the dry cleaning cost for the property damage of my friend's handmade, custom Italian winter coat and she hesitated and said she is "only an assistant manager" and has to ask the owner. I could have rightfully asked for a full cost replacement because this is not an off the shelf, Zara's jacket but I wanted to remain reasonable and work with her over a little accident. Later, in-between several requests for the servers to refill 1 cup of water (which never got refilled till the end of the story), she finally got back to me and said the owner agreed to cover the dry cleaning as an "exception" and they are going "above and beyond" for this (for a measly $30 dry cleaning bill on a $1,900 jacket). Clearly I should've jumped with joy like an excitable child on the morning of Christmas because jolly ol' Loni came through with the present I've been praying for all year and I should be so extremely grateful, but was I? Absolutely not, because me asking to have our meals covered ($50 max for 3 people - its literally eggs and toast and Food Basics grade Orange juice) for the inconvenience of missing our allotted timed entry for our White Water raft tickets in Niagara that afternoon, prompted Loni to inform us that restaurants are hurting... in 2023... 3 years post pandemic... where we had to wait 15 mins for a table... in a full restaurant... where I still didn't get my water refilled because the servers are so busy. Loni additionally made an effort to lie to me and say that these meals, if they were covered, would be deducted from their pay checks. And when I asked a sever walking by if this was true, she hesitated and kept quiet. So either, the owner of this Cora was conceived on Black Friday, or Loni is a liar. In either case, I wanted to write this colorful review because making the effort to drive back to this establishment to get my $30 dry cleaning money back is only worth it for Halloween if I want a scare that is more wasted than the stimulus check that kept places like this afloat.
PS: I asked Loni to give me the owner's details as my friend's wife's designer bag and his old Rolex (not worth a lot but if you're a watch enthusiast, you'll know how hard it is to maintain them) was also damaged but I have had no call backs. Time to figure out which Commercial Insurance policy they have and make a claim so the owner realizes how a simple call back would've avoided all...
Read moreThis branch at 4559 Hurontario St Unit 9, Mississauga, ON L4Z 3L9 has a very bad service and a bad air condition and my kids were crying for the hot air inside Cora branch. My family containing my wife, my 2 kids, my aunt, and me asked for 2 Waffle strawberry and 1 Tuna melt plate potatoes. There was an offer to get a nice fruit juice for any meal over $7. After we request the order, I asked to talk again to the waiter to show him the offer on my cell phone from Cora application and to request the 3 juices but the supervisor (was a lady) has a very strange behavior and she asked me not to talk to the waiter! I told her that there is an offer so I want to confirm that we will not pay for it. She told me, don't worry you will not pay for the juices and to sit down! The waiter was very gentle with us but the supervisor was not. After we finished the meal, I found the receipt has the cost of 3 juices the supervisor asked us to pay for the 3 juices! I told her that I showed the offer to you and to the waiter and you told me that I will not pay so I will pay only for meals. She was insisting that I have to pay and after wasting a lot of time, she asked me to pay for just 1 juice and she will waive 2 juices and she printed another receipt with the cost for 1 juice. So, my question why do I have to pay for even 1 and it is not my fault? What I think that they brought me a wrong juice and not like the offer but this is not the problem. She was talking with an aggressive way with me and with the waiter. I told her that I will send a complaint to Cora Head Office about her and about the service of this branch. She gave me the card of the branch owner (Hamza Ahmed). The card has no information about Cora Head Office. She told the nice waiter that we will make a complaint about him and this not true.
At the end, she felt that she has nothing to do with me and she waived the cost of 3 juices. She printed the receipt for the third time.
The problems she did:
1-She asked me to pay for 3 juices then 1 only although it is a free offer. 2-She gave me the card for the branch owner and not for the head office to cheat me. 3-She lied to the waiter that we will make a complaint about him although I was clear that the complaint about her and the waiter was very gentle. 4-She was aggressive.
I will put this review on Google and every website that has reviews about Cora. I will file a consumer complaint with the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services (Consumer Protection Ontario).
I have all the proofs like the receipt and the...
Read moreI rarely write Google reviews, but purposely made time to write this one after my extremely positive experience at this restaurant today.
My family of 5 was celebrating a birthday, and everything was going very well until we had paid for our food and it was time to leave. My autistic 10-yr old son had ordered a delicious chocolate chip pancake today, but as we were packing up to go, he fixated on wanting to eat a yummy waffle with Nutella (which he's had during previous visits). Unfortunately, he's been having a rough few weeks with sleep, and emotional regulation gets very tough... My attempts to convince him to order the waffles at our next visit only caused him to break down in tears and escalate further. As I was trying to troubleshoot how to usher my son out of the restaurant as quickly as possible, Loni (who I assume is the manager) came to our rescue!
Not only was Loni gracious enough not to draw added attention to the disruptive situation that we were creating in an otherwise cheery restaurant, she addressed both my son and I calmly with empathy, compassion, and patience. She quickly figured out what my son needed and offered to get him some waffles and Nutella. When she found out we were actually on our way out of the restaurant, she packed everything up neatly for us to go.
In the chaos of leaving the restaurant, my other son somehow misplaced his phone. Loni let us use the restaurant phone to call it and also helped us search the area for it. When we were unsuccessful, she took down our contact info in case it turns up later. She also offered each of my kids a fun, reusable twirly straw on our way out, ending our unexpectedly stressful situation with a very positive interaction.
My family has frequented many Cora's locations over the years for various special occasions. Service has always been good, but today's experience went above and beyond. Thank you, Loni, for your overwhelming kindness today! I am forever grateful!
Highly recommend this restaurant!
