A group of happy retirees from Peel tried the Kamayan feast @carinderiabydflores for the very first time on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. As an organizer and host of this food event and also the only Filipino Canadian in the group I was worried how the experience would be received. The group consisted mostly caucasians and a couple of South East Asian descent. It was for the express purpose of introducing the Filipino cuisine to my group with a twist (ie, using hands). There were a couple or so who requested cutlery but majority were game and embraced the Filipino way of eating by the use of God’s given gift…our hands. Everyone was in awe and overwhelmed with the amount of food. We had to boxed any left overs as we could not finished it. From the perspective of the group the food was delectable, staff were friendly, courteous, and super helpful in answering questions posted by some members. The owner Dolly was very accommodating from the very beginning and was always available when you need her. To sum up a delicious feast the halo halo was also a hit from the group as something different but otherwise very refreshing dessert/drink. I would not hesitate to book an event here again. Thank you Dolly @carinderiabydflores for an awesome experience my group will cherish in the...
Read moreI was so looking forward ordering the lechón Kawali or pork belly from this place so I ordered a pound by phone, picked it up and couldn’t wait to get home so I opened the container inside the restaurant and started to eat them. So disappointed-, they were dry as shoe leather , I believe she sold me the ones from the day before or longer because the only thing I could eat was the top part that was a bit crispy. I tried to eat the rest but couldn’t swallow it , it was like eating straw , I had to spit it out. Since I was still at the restaurant I asked to speak to the manager or the cook. A woman , not too friendly asked about my problem , I explained it to her and asked her if she had just made them or they were old and reheated because some of them were burned and dry. Of course not many words came out of her mouth just ‘ that’s the way pork is’ B,S PORK BELLY IS delicious if done right and served fresh, so after $30 dollars spent on a lb of lousy pork belly I told her I would never come back and she shrugged her shoulders and said OK. I guess I am going back to the cheese boutique on Sundays to get my fix of pork belly, it’s always amazing there, too bad they Nely make it on the weekend., Too bad I have no fotos , I chewed it, spit it out and threw it in the garbage...
Read moreIf you are looking for delicious authentic Filipino food in Mississauga, then go to Carinderia by DFlores! They serve traditional Filipino food and add their own unique creativity to each dish. You can tell they don't take any shortcuts or compromise on the ingredients they use. The flavors from each bite will remind you of being back home or attending a big family celebration. This is the main reason why I chose them to cater my surprise proposal party. I ordered various trays from pancit (noodles), to lumpia to their incredible Kamayan (boodle fight) box that contained such a variety of grilled meats that satisfied the cravings of each of my guests. The quality of the food provided by Carinderia really added to the joy of our event with each guests commenting on how delicious everything they ate was. The only complaint I received was that I didn't order enough for some of my guests to take leftovers home. They couldn't stop the "I'm just going to have one more plate" syndrome.
Thank You @Carinderia by DFlores for making my special event, that much more special! And...
