I visited this location this on an evening of a Sunday in Aug (‘24) with my family of four that included two kids. We opted for the Buffet at 7pm. This was the first time I've had a buffet at this location. I have previously been to this: Mississauga Erin Mills location in the past (2 occasions in the last few years but had opted for alacarte then).
The feedback is specifically about the quality of the food at the buffet when I compare my past visits and generally from eating at Indian cuisine restaurants for over 24 years of living in Mississauga.
As reflected in the rating the buffet was at disappointing levels. Since it was a quiet family occasion we opted not to make an issue with the management since we were already in the midst of our plates full with appetizers and invested now to optimistically try the next item that could hopefully be better. And there were several choices to work through those hopes but kids didn't move much beyond their snacks and even abandoned their desserts they couldn't finish. We did try most of everything that were offerred a little bit and the only thing that seemed acceptable was that the Rotis were delivered fresh to the table and the service was performed by the attendants in the restaurants with a smile. The food however was as terrible in general with almost nothing appealing to anyone's taste at all. The snack bar with paani-puri was probably the only other thing that seemed reasonable but of the 20-30 items overall of which we tasted 12-14 items there was nothing that seemed either freshly prepared or seemed prepared and re-served in a way that the taste was well close to stale. Have you had cantaloupes that are stale to the point they are sour. That’s what the rest of things we tried was at. At the end we regret our mistake of opting for the Buffet specifically on a Sunday evening.
My recommendation to the franchise operator is to give up the Buffet if you are not able to maintain taste and freshness of the items offerred. A few items being stored and re-served are the norm of all Buffets but almost everything being stale tasting is a good reason to not serve Buffet on Sundays when you are clearing out the food from the weekend. Otherwise you're doing so at the cost of turning away customers for good to consider never coming back - because I know from my past experience that this location has served us well.
To the patrons current and future I would strongly recommend sticking with a-la carte at times like Sunday afternoons lest be treated to things whose mileage as buffet food has...
Read moreWe dine in for buffet based on social media reviews. The weekend buffet costs $29.99 + tax.
Firstly, there were very few options. For vegetarians, there are 2-3 appetizers only. There were no tandoori appetizers like panner or veg rolls etc. Food was cold and we have to tell the servers to turn on heat after trying a dish.
Food was not tasty. Except 1-2 option (tikki or nan) everything tastes stale. Worst thing is main course options, the restaurant named as daal roti and they do not have daal makhni in their buffet option instead they have daal tadka(yellow daal) without any taste. The curries options like rajma, Alloo capsicum, paneer bhurji very not appealing by its look. It appears no one touched those items. Just for sake of eating something bcoz we were to hungry, i had a naan with achari baingan bcoz the chilli panner tastes bad.
I didn’t give a try to desserts because of bad reviews by others.
The only good thing was they offered us garlic naan that they said is not part of buffet as they provide only butter naan( not mentioned beforehand tho). The server gave us free complementary dessert, but sadly that tasted worst.
Overall the food was bland and not worth its cost at all. We were disappointed due to Limited menu options. But we expected good taste. However food quality was too bad. Never coming back to this place again.
We go to tandoori flame always for buffet because of wide variety of food options and fresh food. We came here based on reviews but had worst...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic evening we had. 4 of us we went all out and had some delicious food and drinks and desert. Don't let the name fool you. Dal Roti seems like a very simple Dhabba kind name. The food was 5 *. So we started with Mango Lassi and Mango mill shake and beer. Then, we ordered the chicken mix platter. Other than the Tandoori chk, everything else was saculant and very well marinated and very flavourful, haryana Tikka, chk Tikka, achari Tikka, Rashmi kabab The veggie mix Platter was too good, with Soya chap, Tandoori potatoes, paneer, and one more item, don't remember as that's what my wife ate. Me and the kids avoid vegetarian food when we eat outside, lol. Then we ordered the main course. Dal Makhni, Paneer butter masala, chicken Vidaloo, methi chk, goat biryani, butter Naan and Garlic Naan. To my surprise, the portions were nice and large for the price. Every dish was very flavourful and different from a regular Punjabi style food. So I asked where the chef was from. He is from Dehradun. Then we had to end it with desert, so we had Rasmalai, paan kulfi, and kesar pista ice cream as they ran out of Rajbhog ice cream. Every bite through the desert was very flavourful. Being a chef and a food critic, I should say this, I enjoyed some great North Indian food, and I would recommend people go there. Thank you, Dal Roti. we had a great time. Btw my wife had gone with her friend once for lunch, and she liked the food there, so we went there. Thanks to ma...
