El Mariachi Tacos And Churros — Restaurant in Mississauga

I was looking for taco place in Mississauga when I came across this place. Upon entry it looked like a cute place, I was seated immediately. It has 2 sessions one bar front and the dining back area.

The area was extremely loud, we waited 15 minutes to get served, but we understood this place was a busy place.

The sitting area was extremely tight but we decided to make the best of it. Since the server was taking too long, we asked for the other server to please serve us, which she did. I believe her name was Selena, who was hustling and taking care of most of the tables as I was observing.

She took our orders almost immediately. I ordered MOLTEN CHEESE, which I am familiar with, it was very rich and delicious perhaps the best thing I had here or anywhere in the Ontario, definitely a must. Then we ordered Chicken tinga Empanadas and ground beef. The dough was perfectly thin and crunchy, it was packed with meat, like no other empanada I have ever had. I will have to say they were very generous with the meat and the pico de gallo had hardly any onions, which is not the authentic style as for pico de gallo. The empanada as is, was good 4/5

The horchata was ok 2/5 and was missing cinnamon, I wanted to love it but without the cinnamon is not the same.

My friend had the el mariachi torta, he liked the torta but was extremely disappointed in the fries not to the seasoning but because it was undercooked 3/5

The Carnitas, although it looked so appetizing, and it is one of my favorite dishes in Mexico, here I had mix feelings. First it was great cause it was so packed with meat but when I tried to pick one up it collapsed turning into a big mush. I had to eat my taco with a fork which was so sad. The tortillas were all wet…so much so I had to tell the server and she quickly offered more tortillas. I appreciate for her quick problem solving skills. The sauces were tasty though! 2/5

All I can say our server Selena, I think she said that was her name. She was amazing! So helpful, attentive and a super hard worker her customer service gets a 10/5 She truly made our experience better and saved the day as she was the only server I seen working so hard unlike the rest.

Visited this restaurant with another couple for the husband's birthday. We have seen this place and pass it by all the time and never ever stopped in.

We weren't really sure what to expect either but when we stepped inside we were confused as to how small it was....wrong..lol

There was a whole other section to the right for dining. The front entrance gives more of a bar vibe which was nice and very intimate.

The dining area is very very colourful and cheery and immediately you feel as if you were perhaps in a restaurant in Mexico 🇲🇽

It is not overly large but large enough, it's not overly small but small enough and it has this beautiful intimate vibrancy that resonates throughout.

After being seated and our drink order was taken we met our server. I believe his name was Matt (I could be wrong). He was an absolute pleasure all night. Very friendly, hardworking and very detail oriented.

We asked questions and they were answered well. We were given suggestions which we took and did not regret. We had a few appetizers before our main which were absolutely delicious.

The street corn was a new experience for me. The shrimp cheviche was so fresh and the flavours did the tango our tongues. The deep fried cauliflower was absolutely a game changer for my husband who abhors cauliflower. He was so impressed he kept eating them and couldn't stop 😅

We ordered chicken fajitas for him, I went with the beef chimichanga, our friend's wife went with veggie chimichanga and our friend had the shrimp fajitas.

I was very hesitant on what my husband could eat as he has a sensitive stomach but when I asked him to rate his dinner he declared it 10x better than Lonestar. His exact words were, "This taste way better, the food actually taste like it's seasoned!"

The chimichangas were an absolute hit. So delicious, generous portions. The drinks were amazing. The tequilas were also really good as we tried a few different ones.

The churros were also delicious. We placed an order to go as well for these and they were a hit with our teenager.

Our bill at the end was over $400+ and well worth it. We will most definitely be back as I am now determined to try everything on the menu.

Great music....lively conversations all around us and genuinely a fantastic little spot have a date or gather...

Overall the restaurant is very beautiful and the food is ok but my reason for cutting these starts is the customer service which is awful, awful, awful. I have bin a million restaurants till now but the weird customer service I saw here makes me think do they even care about customer satisfaction? It was awful. The two girls at front not doing anything whole time and we asked them once to get something for us she replied “I AM NOT YOUR SERVER “ because she was handling front desk I believe. The server we had was ok but felt like they were shirt staffed very bad that too on a Saturday night. Everything I had to ask twice, couldn’t ask the girls in front because they were “NOT SERVERS” so they couldn’t even help the customer when they wanted an order of guacamole. I don’t know if I should be recommending this to anyone for real. I tried it first time ever and I wanted to try it for really really long. I was surprised to see food came in 5 minutes. 5 minutes thats all they took to make two orders of corns in cup, a soup, Avocado tacos and fish tacos. Literally 5 minutes. Everything vegetarian was cold, I don’t know why they bought it so fast and it tasted good but I don’t think I came for that. This was just a horrible horrible experience and I feel like never coming back again. I would give food 4 stars even after it was cold but customer service - (minus) million. It was awful. Instead of this place I would recommend going to Border MX which is such a nice, awesome Mexican restaurant. They Takecare of you so nice, everything perfect on time, hot, beautiful and fresh food and awesome awesome customer service. Their manager is always involved with service and they Takecare if you need anything. Would not recommend this restaurant at all. I am never visiting again just because of your front staff girls and awfully slow service. Worst...
