So let me start with the food. The food is good. Better than other Mallu places and ocean palette (food is bad). Mind you, the food here is good but when you only compare it to the many restaurants in Mississauga.

Now let’s broaden the borders a bit. If I travel in a 7km to 10 radius from square one, I can go into Brampton and find some amazing South Indian cuisine that tastes similar. So the issue here is the price when you expand borders. (Skip makes it easier to order from Brampton)

Even though the food is good, the portion sizes for the beef was so tiny, I backed off from buying it again. It doesn’t need to be really big portion sizes but it has to be sensible for what you charge. Especially for meat dishes.

Look at the ethnic food genre, they have Shezwan noodle bowl right next door. They charge $17 a dish on average, by no means cheap for a hole in the wall. But the portion sizes justifies the cost and it’s unbelievably authentic and delicious. It’s hard to get a table in the weekend. If ruchi world, follows this formula of great food, justified portion sizes for meat dishes, and smart pricing, they can be a spot where customers go monthly to eat homely food than just a place you go to satisfy a craving once a quarter.

So I bought food once, and it was great! But when I saw the bill, I wasn’t pleased. I recommended my friends to go there and they all shared the exact same thought. If we are desperate to eat some really good food they will go to try it out but not regularly cause of the portion sizes. And we are all working professionals/executives looking for a steady place to order Mallu food from as we have busy schedules. Cost should justify = product quality and taste + portion size + service. (Operating word is justify) This what gets regulars and you will stand the length of time. Right now there is no differentiator between thanima and Ruchi world. Same quality food and same prices. Thanima do have slightly better portion sizes.
