I went with a group of 8 today, travelling from as far as the Georgian Bay Area, after seeing a lot of hype about this place lately on Social Media. I have a background in hospitality, serving and bartending.
To begin, the food was delicious. My fiancee and I decided to share the Seau De Crabbe Bucket and add on a second side of snow crab. The bucket was supposed to be flavoured with mild Cajun sauce and the crab legs were to be flavoured with the mild signature seau de crabbe sauce (a lemon pepper flavour our server told us). There may have been a mistake- the sauces for the different dishes tasted exactly the same (only that one packed a lot more heat than the other). While I wanted to say something, I chose not to because our table was suffering with some greater issues.
After being seated and waiting for about 20 minutes, I flagged down a server and asked if we were supposed to take our order at the counter or our table - it wasn’t made clear at the beginning. He told us to wait a moment and finally came back with a notepad. He took most of our orders, but almost walked away without taking that of one of the couples at our table. As for drinks, we had to get up and go to the fridge ourselves- not an easy task when 8 of us were crammed into a small booth.
Eventually our food came out, one at a time. I received the bucket I ordered, but had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the side of crab. As for the rest of the table, half received their meals, the other half continued to wait. After some time almost everyone had their meals except for one. The server came and retook his order. We needed to request cutlery (plastic forks) and ketchup (in packets), they were not readily available. Standard seafood tools like crackers and seafood forks, as well as much needed wet naps were not available. In the end we all finished our meals and the last person at our table still didn’t receive his food. We called the server over and she responded that it would take another two more minutes. The guy in our group said he wasn’t hungry any longer and stated he no longer wanted the meal. Despite this request, they brought the meal to him. He asked for it to be taken to go.
As for the atmosphere, a one star is offering too much. The restaurant has a huge takeout counter and about 10 tables - I expected fine dining but it felt like fast food. I immediately noticed a lot of paint chipped away on the wall near the entrance. Behind the takeout counter it is very cluttered with boxes. I happened to pass the kitchen, on my way to the washroom. The kitchen is very cluttered with boxes and does not look organized whatsoever. The mop and bucket sitting in the small non-gender bathroom was very unappealing.
Again, the food was great! I have been looking forward to visiting Seau de Crabe since I say the Tik Tok video earlier this week. The atmosphere and service were very...
Read moreUpdate : My comments on Instagram were deleted yet again, and now they've restricted the comments entirely. This level of unprofessionalism is truly disappointing. Instead of addressing genuine customer concerns, the restaurant chooses to silence them by removing feedback. It's concerning that rather than taking the opportunity to engage with their customers and rectify issues, they opt to hide behind restrictions. This approach not only undermines customer trust but also raises questions about the transparency and integrity of their business practices
I visited Seau de Crabe Missisauga last month and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience due to poor customer service. The lady who served us appeared uninterested and acted as if taking our order was a bother. When I showed her a photo from my previous visit to order the same items, I requested to substitute the mussels and crab with shrimp. She refused and insisted that the platter in the photo couldn’t be the one I was ordering, even though I was certain it was.
We ordered a platter for two and a single platter for my friend. When the food arrived, she only opened one bag of the seafood boil before attending to another customer. I had to remind her to open the second bag. I also asked for napkins since the box on our table was empty. She said she would bring them but didn’t, so I had to ask again after waiting for about 15 minutes while she cleaned other tables and took orders.
There were only two other occupied tables besides ours, so the lack of attention was surprising. Additionally, when the food was served, the portion size for the platter for two was the same as the platter for one, which was disappointing. Overall, the food was good, but the portions were smaller than expected.
I should mention that there is a gentleman who works there who is very pleasant. During previous visits, he took our orders and ensured we had an enjoyable dining experience. To the lady who served us this time: if you don’t want to work, please stay home. We are spending our money at your restaurant, and we deserve proper customer service in return.
Update : I posted the same feedback on their Instagram page, but my comments were removed. Transparency is crucial, and it’s important for everyone to see how negative...
Read moreI recently visited Seau de Crab and while the food was decent, the overall experience left much to be desired.
Upon entering, the initial service was okay, but things quickly went downhill. We were greeted with a blunt, "Did you order or not?"—no warmth or courtesy like a simple "Hi, how are you?" This set the tone for the rest of the visit. While I appreciated that they provided a high chair for our baby, they weren’t mindful of safety. When the food arrived, the sauce was poured dangerously close to the baby, which was quite concerning.
The bigger issue was with the food orders. Since this was our first time dining here, we trusted the staff to serve us correctly. However, the food we received wasn’t ours, and it seemed like other diners were also getting the wrong orders. We ended up with two different platters and no clarity on what was actually ours.
The restaurant itself was smaller than expected. The constant opening and closing of the door made the food get cold quickly, which was disappointing. Additionally, there was only one washroom for everyone, making it inconvenient to wash your hands after a messy seafood meal.
Service: Friendliness goes a long way. Most of the staff (except for the Filipina waitress) seemed uninterested and disengaged. A more welcoming and attentive approach would significantly enhance the experience.
Washroom Facilities: Considering it’s a seafood boil restaurant, there should be separate male and female washrooms with at least two stalls each, as well as more sinks for diners to wash their hands.
Order Management: Staff should double-check orders before serving to avoid the mix-ups we experienced. Mindfulness: Safety should be prioritized, especially when serving tables with children.
Being that this is a popular restaurant in Quebec our expectations we're not met.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Seau de Crab. If you’re craving a seafood boil, Captain’s Boil offers a far better experience in terms of both food...
