The Tuscany Pizza was exceedingly underwhelming. It tasted like something I could have made (and, likely did) as a kid with a grocery-store pizza kit. Dave Portnoy probably would have given it a 2.6. I didn’t like it.
The Fish and Chips, on the other hand, was adequate. The filets were substantial in size and cooked well. But, there is nothing outstanding about the two menu items I tasted at this restaurant.
With that said, allow me to emphasize this: the staff are amazing. They went out of their way to assist me and even allowed me to use the restroom as soon as I had entered, and before I had even indicated that I wish to be a diner at their establishment, despite there being a sign clearly visible at the entrance stating that there is no public restroom available inside. Indeed, my server, as well, was an absolute gem of a person: I cannot spell her name, but it began with Anna. I hope she doesn’t mind my saying. She was really sweet and genuine, and she did not so much as have even a hint of an ulterior motive in her demeanour. With an easy-going attitude she aptly engaged me with the dining experience and catered to my wants and directions, even when my dining companion did not take as enthusiastically to it. Again, the staff made my experience very much so more enjoyable, because the food, unfortunately, did not.
I would say, if you want to (1) enjoy a day out by the Credit River, (2) take a nice, long stroll around the boardwalk along the Port, and in the meantime, (3) eat whatever happens to be convenient in the vicinity — with some great customer service, nevertheless — go have dinner at Snug Harbour. Its food is not great; the prices are at an unjustified premium; and there is no specific culinary specialty in which the restaurant seems to have any competitive advantage. But, if you like going out and around on the lakeside, and, you do not mind having a standard to sub-standard quality meal at the end of your trip, this establishment, in my opinion, will guarantee you the latter, provided you meet...
Read moreSimply one of the most incredible experiences we’ve had at a restaurant in Mississauga. First and foremost, everyone at the front desk and on the phone are friendly and well spoken. The parking lot is shared with the lake side park but that is part of the restaurant’s charm and idyllic location. Waiting to get a seat didn’t take long at all as there were employees walking the restaurant checking for tables to be billed and reset. Meeting our server, Maya, was the highlight of our evening. Not only was she genuinely courteous, efficient and so knowledgeable, above all, she truly loves what she does which made us love everything about our evening. She was so full of life and rigor that she inspired my husband and I to take chances and to always strive to live life to the fullest. Besides the awakening and motivation from the beautiful Maya, the food was exceptional! I had a craving for oysters and we know this is the only place to get the highest quality in the area. Shrimp cocktail is my favourite anywhere and this one did not disappoint!! I like my salmon rare because it is reminiscent of sushi and my piece was cooked perfectly— no questions asked. We heard the Caesar’s are good here and that was absolutely true! Even the Pepsi on tap was perfect— that’s a feat in and of itself. Fun Fact: my husband is allergic to fish so he got the steak and said he couldn’t believe he went to a seafood restaurant and had one of the best steaks of his life. He also mentioned it the day after, which is how you know it was memorable. The absolute best part was eating while being able to watch as people took their boats off the dock the restaurant is built on, for their Labour day weekend sail. There was a warm lake side breeze that filled the patio and surrounded us as we enjoyed our meal. A little slice of heaven in Mississauga. I could not...
Read moreI went to Snug Harbor last night for a late, late dinner date with my wife. We arrived around 8:30 p.m., the place was packed, which I wasn't expecting for a Sunday night. We were greeted quickly and offered an immediate seat inside or a 30minute wait for patio. We opted to eat inside, we were HUNGRY. Our waitress was great. Knew the menu and had suggestions to offer. Was friendly but not familiar and was a great balance of keeping her distance, without being too absent. The food however was not at all what I would consider 'date worthy'. my wife had a beet salad, which was boring but generous. A generous plate of arugula with huge chunks of beets and tons of goat cheese. Not over dressed either. My chowder however was horrible. Clearly commercial bought soup with a strong chicken broth flavour. And it was gelatinous, so much thickener it had the consistency of a bowl of mucous. And it came with crackers in a plastic bag! Not at all fine dining.
I liked how all the wines were available by the glass or bottle. But they were all new world wines. California, Niagara or South Africa. Not a very impressive offering.
For the main course my wife had grilled salmon. While she thought it was ok...it was just that. Ok. Dry and overcooked. I had the Bouillabaisse. Really disappointed. Mostly chunks of white fish with 4 mussels, 3 clams and only 1 each of scallop and shrimp. The broth was not hot and I had to and it back. The flavour was lacking any seasoning, just fishy tomato water. I couldn't help but think that I should have gone to Trattoria Timone for their fantastic cioppino.
So, great service and wonderful view of the river at sunset..but the food really isn't good at all. Their success must really depend on the location, because it is...
