Nestled conveniently near major arterials, Spice Culture in Mississauga is a delightful destination for anyone craving Indian cuisine in an upscale setting. From the moment you step inside, the restaurant impresses with its clean and well-kept environment. The pleasing interior design, complete with warm lighting and tasteful decor, creates an inviting ambience perfect for both casual outings and special occasions.
One highlight of Spice Culture is its attention to hygiene. The washrooms are mostly hands-free, which is a thoughtful feature in today’s dining landscape, and the availability of paper towels over hand dryers is definitely a plus.
The service was commendable, with attentive staff who genuinely wanted to ensure we had a great dining experience. Now, let’s talk about the food, which was undoubtedly the star of the show. The flavors were intense but not overwhelming, striking a perfect balance. The salt levels were just right, allowing each dish to shine without being overly heavy.
The Hari Bhari Kebab was cooked to perfection, showcasing a crispy exterior that complemented the soft interior beautifully. The Baingan Bhartha stood out as the best dish of the evening, expertly infused with a smoky flavor that lingered delightfully on the palate.
While most of the food was presented impeccably at the appropriate temperatures, there were a couple of setbacks. The breads, while an essential component of Indian cuisine, fell short. They were excessively thin, causing them to dry out quickly and become chewy. Furthermore, the Amritsari Kulcha, although delicious, was undercooked in our second order, resulting in an unwelcome taste of raw dough that detracted from the meal. Additionally, when I asked for paper napkins at the table, they only provided more fabric serviettes, which wasn’t sufficient. A better touch would have been to provide hot towelettes at the end of the meal.
Another issue was the lack of paper menus. They didn’t have any available, and the QR codes at the table were worn out and some didn’t work. I appreciate that we’re in a digital age, but not having a single paper menu for seniors who struggle with tech is a major miss.
We also had a persistent fruit fly hovering near our table, which is a bit disheartening in a place aiming for fine dining.
Desserts rounded off our meal nicely. The Gajjar Halwa was tasty and well-prepared, but I wished for a more elegant presentation instead of being served in a martini-style steel glass. The Royal Falooda Kulfi, while enjoyable, was icy and a bit hard, lacking the creamy texture I was hoping for.
Despite these hiccups, I wholeheartedly recommend Spice Culture for anyone in the market for Indian cuisine offered in a near fine dining setting. With its flavorful dishes, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere, it's a gem worth visiting, especially for those who appreciate the nuances of Indian...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible! Portions are stingy and not worth the price. Packaging is careless—food was just dumped into the pickup bag. The naan was rubbery and inedible. The washrooms were disgusting at 1 pm, with urine splattered all over, clearly not cleaned in ages. If that’s how they maintain their washrooms, imagine the state of the kitchen where your food is cooked. Not surprising this place had no customers even during peak lunch hour. Stay far, far away!
UPDATE #1 ( Post owner's reply):
My Reply: I stand by my review and to further reply to your comments
Portions: Regardless of a promotion, portion size should never feel like a rip-off. “Buy 1 get 1 free” does not justify cutting corners on quality or presentation. A special should attract customers, not leave them feeling shortchanged.
Packaging: Suggesting the bag was carried “sideways” is a weak excuse. Properly sealed and packed food should not look like it was dumped in, no matter how it’s carried. Good restaurants ensure takeout travels well. Infact, I carried exactly the way the packaging to me. Rather, it's you who ensure proper handling.
Washroom Cleanliness: Claiming the washroom was clean after inspection doesn’t change what I personally witnessed at 1 p.m. — urine splattered on the floor is not a matter of “perspective.” A single morning cleaning is insufficient for a busy restaurant; restrooms should be maintained throughout the day. Ofcourse you have to deny it.
Customer Experience: The fact that I returned to raise these concerns shows how unacceptable the experience was. Instead of taking accountability, your response reads more like excuses than a commitment to improving.
Other diners reading this should know my review reflects exactly what I experienced, and your dismissive reply only reinforces why I...
Read moreSpice and Culture is an Indian restaurant located in Mississauga offering fine dining experience to its customers.
To begin with, the service at Spice and Culture was exceptional, particularly from our waiter Robin. He was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, always ready to help us with any queries we had. The ambience of the restaurant was also quite beautiful with an elegant décor. Everything was aesthetically designed, and the seating was comfortable, adding to the overall experience.
The chicken platter served as starters was quite appealing in its presentation, and it tasted just ok and the mint chutney, which is one of the integral condiments of an Indian meal, was found to be tasteless.
However, the main course dishes, including Murg do Pyaaz and Tawa Paneer, failed to meet our expectations. While the plating was neat and the portions satisfactory, the food tasted just about average. The spices used in the dishes were not as good as I had expected, lacking the authentic Indian taste.
Given the incredibly high prices of the food items, I would expect them to match the level of services and ambiance offered at the restaurant. Sadly, in comparison to the exceptional service and beautiful setting, the food failed to impress most of us.
In conclusion, while I was blown away by the hospitality and overall vibe of the restaurant, I can not give it a full recommendation based on the quality of food alone. Hopefully, the Spice and Culture team can work on refining their recipes and spices to enhance their overall dining experience to match their...
