So. I was hesitant to try this restaurant, because I'd had a less than average experience at the location close to me.
But I saw the 4.5 stars average on Yelp, so I said, why not?!
Good news. I've found my new breakfast, lunch, brunch spot. This location is, at least so far, as good as Sunny Morning (10 minutes away in Etobicoke). Its the first breakfast joint I've found that's as good or better than Sunny's. Wow!
To start, a complimentary Toronto Star, yes! Very few restaurants do this any more, and it's a cryin' shame!
I HAD to try the Crab Cakes Benedict..... Only available FOR A LIMITED TIME.
OMG. OMG....OMG!!!!! This is the BEST BENEDICT I HAVE EVER EATEN, and I've been eating Eggs Benedict since 1988!
Dear Head Office : Please bring the Crab Cakes Benedict to your PERMANENT MENUE, ASAP!! Do NOT rob your wonderful customers and staff of this one-of-a-kind, BRILLIANT, DEEPLY DELICIOUS Eggs Benedict!! I'm begging you!
The food at THIS location is outstanding. (the location closer to me, nope)
I tasted every part of the Benedict alone, so I'd know what I was tasting when I ate it together! (That is a free foodie tip for any dish btw. Yes. You're welcome.)
The hollandaise is outstanding, and enough for all 3 eggs and the 2 crab cakes (very important). It's extremely well seasoned, which is tricky (too much, or too little really sucks!), and very hard to find (see my soon to be posted review of Huevos Gourmet to see what I mean).
The crab cake was SIMPLY SPECTACULAR!! SERIOUSLY. It had a significant amount of big crab pieces.... It was excellently seasoned! And quite a large size.
I loved the 4 (too small) pieces of asparagus on top.... I buy them infrequently, so it was a lovely surprise!
The eggs were poached perfectly. Soft, but yet the white was cooked, not partly raw like some restaurants. (finally I found it)!
The food came out very quickly, piping hot and looking lovely!
I have to say, I'm surprised that you don't have the "People love us on Yelp" sticker on your front and rear doors, plus the cardboard sign you can put at the registers... It encourages customers to READ the reviews, and to write their very own! Every location should have both prominently displayed!
Now for my issues: For some reason, the potatoes were lukewarm or cold within a few minutes of my plate hitting the table. The waitress got me more, (thank God), which I AM CERTAIN were fresh made, and they were hot initially, but cold within a very, very short period of time.
I'm not sure why, but store management needs to look into this ASAP. It's important.
SWEET AND Low for coffee/tea. REALLY? IS IT 1980?? SERIOUSLY? At this "just as expensive as any good breakfast restaurant" prices?
It left a dreadful chemically, terrible taste. I had to get a brand new cup and fresh coffee, I couldn't drink it.
And there's simply NO excuse for using it. NONE AT ALL. At the very least, use Equal. Preferably, use Splenda. Your customers' health and wellbeing SHOULD MATTER TO YOU (I'm talking to YOU, Sunset head office, y'all hear me now????)
DO YOU READ ME HEAD OFFICE, who alone decide what products are used at every location???
Service was good, but I had to flag her down several times, no stopping to see how the food was, etc. Not her fault, however. This restaurant is very busy early in the morning. The franchise owners must add a 2nd wait staff. Please?
And, no Wifi... Are we in 1999?? (Prince reference anyone?? ). Small owner-operated, 1 location only restaurants often have free WiFi... Sunset Head Office...... Sérieusement!
OK, the rant is (mostly) over. So come on down to this awesome location. You won't be disappointed. I will give 5 stars ONLY once the potatoes and hideous tasting, chemical, bad for you sweetener issues are addressed.
And. An important bonus at this particular location? A huge, FREE parking lot, in back. In Port Credit, that's extremely rare!
Goddess of Grammar...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at Sunset Grill located at 507 Lakeshore Rd E Unit 111, Mississauga, ON L5G 1H9, and I feel compelled to share my frustration with others. The owner there is not only deceptive but downright rude when confronted with legitimate concerns.
I ordered a plate of food that included French toast, and to put it bluntly, it tasted like a wet, moldy rag. It was inedible. When I politely mentioned it to the owner, he immediately made me feel like I was the problem, as if I had no right to criticize his food. When I compared it to the French toast from the Sunset Grill at 102 Lakeshore Rd W, Mississauga, ON L5H 2E1(which is actually quite good), he told me, with a smug attitude, that he owns both locations and that my complaint was invalid.
Things got even more suspicious when I asked him about the oil he uses on the flat grill. He first told me there was no oil at all only egg. This is not only ridiculous but also a clear attempt to mislead customers. Later, while paying, I saw kitchen staff pour oil from a metal bucket onto the grill, before placing the French toast down. When I asked him about it, he denied that it was oil and simply refused to explain what it actually was.
I can’t stand dishonest business owners who treat customers like they're disposable and who believe they can serve anything and get away with it. It’s one thing to have bad food, but it’s another thing entirely to lie to your customers and treat them like garbage when they express dissatisfaction.
I will never return to this location, and I suggest others stay away unless you want to deal with a liar who has no respect for honest feedback. Do yourself a favor and visit the other Sunset Grill on 102 Lakeshore Rd W, Mississauga, ON L5H 2E1 where the food actually tastes like it’s been prepared...

Less than an hour ago I almost choked on a hair from one of the cooks. I then recognized that at least 3 cooks weren't wearing hair nets in the kitchen, (one woman and two men). Even the owner who was in the kitchen handling food was not wearing a hair net.
After my complaint, the owner tells the cooks to wear the hair nets even though he is in the kitchen handling food without wearing a hair net, one cook (woman) starts to put on the hair net and gives me a thumb up. I a thumbs up suppose to be a apology for your lack of care for cleanness? Absolutely unacceptable
As I walk up to the counter the owner looks at me and ask me to pay for the meal. THE OWNERS IS REQUESTING THAT I PAY FOR A MEAL WHICH HAD HAIR IN IT THAT WENT INTO MY MOUTH. His lack of care for the cleanliness is exactly why hair is in the food and cooks aren't wearing hair nets. It ends up in a shouting match about me paying for food with hair in it. Hair that went into my mouth.
The owners management was poor and unacceptable. I've been going to this place at least once/twice a month for the past 2/3 years. The owner said he recognized me from coming so often but he still choose to ask me to pay and ends up in a shouting match. Horrible owner for the sunset grill brand. I'll never eat at this location or any other again.
0/10 cleanliness 0/10 health and safety 0/10 customer service
