Horrible experience. This was my first time going to Tahini's because I was excited to try their fusion take on shawarmas.
We arrived at around 10 PM on February 23, 2023, and ordered a medium jerk chicken wrap, a medium blueberry flame wrap as well as a bottle of diet coke. Was really excited to just sit and try the food after being hungry all day.
Asked the cashier for hot sauce on the side, and she clearly showed she was upset at that request. Bear in mind, I'm being extremely polite throughout all of this.
We noticed all the chairs were put up, but nobody was cleaning. In fact there was 5 employees behind the counter, doing absolutely nothing, eating food in front of the customers, goofing around and being obnoxiously lou. I asked if we could sit down and eat here. And the employee named Anjali advised me that they are only doing takeout right now? The restaurant wasn't busy at all and there was only one other customer inside who was sitting down and dining in. I asked her how come that customer is allowed to eat here. She stated that he didn't listen to her.
Walked out without thinking much of it, but then went back to ask if this is store policy as it makes no sense since it is very clearly a dine in restaurant. The employees quickly denied saying any of it, and I pressed and asked them why they've put all the chairs up then? They insisted they were cleaning...even though there was absolutely NOTHING being done. They were goofing around doing nothing. It was obvious that they intentionally put the chairs up, so they don't have extra work of cleaning tables. After I left, they quickly put the chairs down. So, I ate in my car further away from the store in the plaza, and noted that after 5-10 mins when they thought I was gone, they put the chairs back up.
Furthermore, the sauces in the wrap were good. But there was inconsistency. For some reason, there were was barely any chicken in the blueberry wrap but tons in the jerk one.
The owner should be aware of all of this. I think Tahini's is a good brand, but these employees are very clearly giving the...
Read moreI had a terrible experience with the employees of the Tahini's store last week. My husband placed an order for a gyro bowl at 7:30 pm on Uber Eats, choosing the in-store pick-up option. We had a 13-minute drive from our location to the store and headed there 10 minutes after receiving the "ready to pick up" confirmation on the app. As soon as we reached the store at 8:00 pm, my husband proceeded to the pick-up counter, and he was asked to wait for another 25 minutes since the food was not ready, without any apologies or politeness.
We called Uber Eats support to explain the incident, and when the support team contacted the merchant, their reply to the the support was that the food was ready. We headed to the store again with our pick-up confirmation, and once more we were told that the food was not ready. The staff acted strangely, as if we came to ask for free food. We waited in our car, and after a long time 8:35 pm, a guy from the store came outside and surprised us with a hand gesture, meaning, "Hey, your food is ready, pick it up if you need it!" We were shocked to see this reaction and his peak arrogance in a country like Canada where customers are usually treated properly.
Since we had already paid for our food (Note: paid for food and not charity), waited for an hour, and it was closing time everywhere, the Uber Eats representative apologized for this ridiculous experience and escalated the issue to higher authorities. Finally, we picked up the food. However, after reaching home around 9:10 pm, we opened the bowl and were terrified to see how the spicy sauces were layered on both bowls, and rice was not cooked properly, cut onions tasted differently even after waiting for long time. It clearly shows that they didn't want us to eat the food.
We contacted customer care with pictures, and even they were surprised and offered an immediate refund. We have ordered food plenty of times through Uber Eats and DoorDash, but for the first time, we faced such arrogance and rude attitude from a food...
Read morePLEASE READ Sunday evening June 8, 2025 I attended Tahinis for my second time. However this will be my LAST time. Not one to write a review however Tahinis needs to seriously look into the professionalism of their staff.
Ordered donuts, lady advised 30 min wait (already ridiculous but no biggie) after 25 mins I went into check our order! As I walked in she asked what my order was, I confirmed and watched her drop the donuts in the fryer… as I stood there confused I politely asked her “how long”? She shrugs at me. When I again politely inquired why she told us 30 mins she immediately blew up at me and became outright hostile, telling me she had orders, she can’t make the donuts faster, basically every excuse under the sun. (MIND YOU) this was at roughly 8:30pm … I watched MAYBE 3 people come in and out of the store.
After some back and forth I ended this conversation with “all you could’ve said was, I’m very sorry here is your order” to which she mocked those words back to me and continued to give me looks and mumble under her breath.
I am flabbergasted at the customer service. As someone who’s worked in the industry please do yourself and others the favour and quit if you cannot handle customer satisfactions/compilants. Simple.
Great food, don’t expect a single ounce of customer...
