So, one day my friend and I are just cruising around, looking for a spot to get a quick, easy and inexpensive lunch - somewhere we haven't been before. I do a Google search for a burger joint, and up pops this spot. The reviews looked good, and it wasn't too far away, so off we go. When we arrive at the parking lot, the first thing I have to do is check that we have the right place - the restaurant, from the outside, looked almost decrepit - I thought we had the wrong address. But no, this was the spot. So, after deciding we weren't going to run around elsewhere, we parked and went it. Our first reaction? We must have passed through a time warp - the place looked straight out of the '60s. Melamine tables (sort of sorry looking but very clean and serviceable), lots of hockey memorabilia, a long counter with a couple of biker types taking orders and serving food, and the compete menu up on the wall behind the counter. The main items? Hamburgers , chicken burgers, peameal bacon burgers, fries, more fries, smoked meat sandwiches, more fries, bacon and eggs, potatoes ...... you get the idea. The folks sitting and eating inside all seemed to be locals - friendly, chatty and all really enjoying their meals! So, I decided to order something healthy - I got extra lettuce and tomato on my peameal bacon-cheese-burger, AND a diet coke, with a SMALL order of well done fries. Let me tell you, my MOM couldn't have made it better. My friend had a corned beef sandwich on rye, which was so stuffed that he could barely pick it up with both hands. And it was easily just as good as the corned beef sandwiches in the deli restaurants on Bathurst Street in Toronto (and about HALF the price). Will my friend and I come back? Definitely, if I can just remember where I found this gem!

Update: came here a second time and I must have been hangry last time. Sorry! You know what it's a nice place with good prices and the staff is pretty cool. The food is good too. I am adding a star. Thanks for the great service today! Looked like a nice place to have breakfast while waiting for oil change. Got here at 1230 no breakfast available. Breakfast is 7am to 11am. The staff was friendly but I was really craving breakfast and most of what they were serving was greasey sandwiches and burgers, so I ended up not eating. My boyfriend enjoyed his tuna sandwich, though the fries were a little soggy.

Had went next door for motorcycle service, thought of grabbing quick lunch. It was late lunch time and they close at 4pm, so it was empty. The gentleman at cash, possibly the owner’s son was very nice and welcoming. The owner seemed to be the cook. Had the house special “Hamburger with pemeal bacon”. Food came out quick, looked great as the picture and very reasonable. It was only about $10 with tax and tips. Better than going to mcdonalds or any other fast food. If you’re in the neighbourhood and hungry I would highly recommend visiting this place.

Ripped me off one coffee. I ordered the "big breakfast" that comes with coffee, home fries and toast. When I came up for the order it had everything but the coffee. I asked the cook about it and he grumbled good-naturedly that he just does what he's told. I asked the guy that took the order and he said I didn't get it because when he asked me if there was anything else I wanted, I didn't mention the coffee. If I wanted coffee now, he would have to charge me for it. I confirmed with him that the coffee was completely free with the meal and the only reason I wasn't getting it was because I didn't specifically request it at the time I ordered. It felt ridiculous. The breakfast food was fairly average, on the greasy side, the home fries were undercooked. Nice location, table was clean, staff was a little grouchy but real, not quiet, not...

Nestled in the heart of an industrial park, Friendly Restaurant is the epitome of a hidden gem, seemingly untouched by time and modern upkeep. The decor and maintenance leave much to be desired, with an ambiance that harks back to a bygone era of 1980. They have a payphone with yellow page book as you enter with no payphone for example Yet, it’s precisely this unpolished charm that draws in all th local patrons, lured by the promise of hearty, unpretentious fare. At Friendly, the food is the main attraction, a testament to the fact that sometimes, it’s the simplest of places that offer the most memorable comfortable dining...
