Having spent quite a bit of time in Thailand recently, I was looking forward to dining here. It was recommended by acquaintances and the reviews looked quite promising. Located in a cinema complex with many other food establishments, I am sure it is tricky to stand out. We had dinner, on a Saturday evening - catching up with friends. It was already quite busy at 5:30pm.
The restaurant itself is minimally decorated, clean, light, neutral colours. Not too flashy, modern decor. Some of the chairs are in quite poor condtion - peeling and flaky vinyl. The windows have great shades that are needed for the setting sun. The music was very loud when we entered, and the increasing number of guests made it very loud and hard to hear the wait staff, and conversations at our table. The staff were friendly, accommodating and welcoming.
The menu is quite large and many of the dishes seem similar so making a decision was hard. The menu also had the lunch specials on it, which made it more confusing. Some of the dishes we ordered: Tom yum soup ($9) with chicken, it was tasty. Thai spring rolls ($8) were somewhat bland and boring, the chicken inside was mushy and indistinguishable. The outside was nice and crispy though. Penang/peanut curry ($19) was one note. The sole flavour was of generic yellow curry powder, no peanut, tamarind or coconut taste at all. The sauce was grainy, gloopy and quite sweet. The coconut rice did not have any coconut flavour. Fried red snapper fish with Thai curry sauce ($24) was overwhelmed by the amount of thick batter. It seemed odd that it was not served with rice. Bangkok Street style pad thai ($19) lacked depth of flavour. I picked this noodle dish as the server said it was less sweet than the regular Pad Thai. It was still sweet. The shrimp were cooked nicely. We asked for extra chilis on the side and they were completely void of any heat. Garlic Lamb ($21) had a very thick and sticky sauce. This was also another dish that was not offered with rice. Thai iced tea ($5) was decent and not overly sweet. Strawberry shake ($6) was thoroughly enjoyed.
The only issue with the service is that the server was awkwardly passing dishes from the opposite side of the table, over peoples heads. Both sides of the table were easily accessible. I do appreciate that the server explained that the gratuity was already added to the bill (parties of 6+) As well as giving us all separate bills. There was no paper hand towels in the mens bathroom.
Overall, this is NOT an authentic Thai food experience. I would not come back, nor would I recommend this restaurant.

Review:
My recent foray into the culinary offerings of Twin Fish Thai Cuisine, albeit via delivery, was a delightful experience that left me eagerly anticipating my next meal from them. From the moment I called for recommendations, the service was exemplary. A kind and patient gentleman took the time to guide me through the menu, offering valuable insights and suggestions.
Crispy Calamari: Despite the gentleman's thoughtful advice regarding the potential for the calamari to become soggy during delivery, my close proximity to the restaurant ensured that it arrived perfectly crispy and utterly delicious. The calamari was fried to a golden perfection, retaining its texture and flavor, making it a standout dish that I'd gladly reorder.
Curry Pad Thai with Chicken and Shrimp: The Curry Pad Thai was a revelation. At my request, it was prepared spicy and laden with EXTRA EXTRA peanuts, a personal preference for that added crunch. The dish was expertly crafted, with the Thai rice noodles, egg, tofu, and green onions all beautifully melded together in a rich blend of tamarind and curry sauce. The generous topping of roasted crushed peanuts and dry chili provided the perfect finish, adding texture and heat to each bite. The balance of flavors and textures in this dish was phenomenal, so much so that I couldn't pause to take a photo before indulging.
Customer Service: The exceptional customer service began with the phone call and extended throughout the entire delivery process. The gentleman's patience and thoroughness in explaining the menu and accommodating special requests like mine for additional peanuts in the Pad Thai contributed significantly to the overall positive experience.
Overall Experience: Twin Fish Thai Cuisine has proven to be a gem, offering not only delicious, authentic Thai food but also outstanding customer service. The attention to detail, from the food preparation to customer interactions, makes it a standout option for anyone craving Thai cuisine. Although my experience was through delivery, the quality of the food and the service provided has made me a loyal customer. I wholeheartedly recommend Twin Fish Thai Cuisine to all Thai food enthusiasts looking for a memorable dining experience, be it dine-in...
Read moreSo this review is long overdue as I been here quite a few times and needless to say it is always a pleasure to eat here.
We usually start off with a Mango Salad (which is a staple I must recommend) but ended up trying the Calamari Salad and boy was it a good choice. The salad is made up of Pacific squid tossed in red onions, green mango, sweet peppers, coriander, lime juice, mint leaves, chilli paste & a touch of sesame oil. The coriander, lime juice and mint leaves just wakes up the palate instantly….and very refreshing I might say.
Next we ordered the Red Snapper Fillet with Basil Sauce……huge portions of red snapper fillets lightly coated with seasoned flour, fried and topped with tiger shrimp, fresh basil leaves, king mushrooms, and onions. The crunchiness of it is just wonderful.
We also ordered the Thai Smoked Shrimp Paste Fried Rice which basically Jasmine rice stir fried with shrimp, squid, mussels, sautéed in garlic, & egg with smoked shrimp paste & green onions. I am asian so the smoked shrimp paste to me is something which I crave from time to time. The rice in itself can pass for a solo meal….like seriously.
We also tried the Lemongrass Chicken…..tender chicken breast with grounded lemongrass, garlic, fresh chili, red & green peppers & onions. This dish goes well with just plain steam white rice, simply because of the sweet, tangy and very light spice on it…..the aroma is just delightful.
And of course, one cannot do without ordering their Pad Thai….which we always order with chicken.
For dessert, we always order the Mango Sticky Rice as this always cleanses the palate after…..nothing like refreshing slices of mango topped on top of black glutinous rice, drizzled with generous amounts of slightly sweet coconut milk.
Staff is super friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable….they always suggest what dishes go well with others. Always a delight to eat here. 5 out of 5 stars for...
